Where is the single most beautiful place you have been?

Lofotens and Torres del Paine are amazing. I've Ben to the Masai Mara but not the Serengeti - ballooning at dawn is amazing.

I had a night at a desert camp in Morocco, just us and the Milky Way for company.

I'd also offer Kinabatangan river in Borneo, Tortuguero in Costa Rica, and La Gran Cabana in southern Venezuela.

Did you get to Merida and the town of Los Nevados in the Andes?

Angels falls was stunning, but more so, for me, the waterfalls around it.

No, apart from the last night in Ciudad Bolivar, we didn't go to main cities. Climbed Mt Roraima, the basis of the mountain in the Pixar film Up, went down to the Brazil border (Santa Elena, I think), flew to Canaima on small Cessnas and saw the Angel Falls from both above and below ( sitting in the pool at the bottom!). There wasn't a lot of water coming over it at the time, so, yes, some of the others were better.

Cities were just dangerous after dark. Even at Santa Elena (main industry: contraband, such as people driving from Brazil to fill cars with cheap petrol) we were out on the very edge.

I know it's not where you're talking about, but Rio — which is every bit as photogenic and stunning as the photos suggest, and then some — was spoilt for me by the constant, unrelenting sense of being in danger. Including during the day. The person I was staying with (I did a homestay), a born and bred carioca, said she had never in her life seen the city like that. She more or less forbade me to go out at night. She said it just wasn't worth the risk. There was of course a high fence and a night-and-day guard on her apartment block. I was intensely aware of sticking out like a sore thumb, and being scrutinised, at all moments. Partly paranoia, of course. But not only.

Went to St. Lucia on my honeymoon - absolutely beautiful place. Stayed up in Rodney Bay. I have said I'd take my wofe back on our 25th Anniversary in 2025. Other places Barbados & Cancun in that part of the world. We are wanting to go to Antigua when we can.

Also Phuket - we stayed at the Le Meridien in Karon - amazing hotel with its own Private beach - you have the place to yourselves.

Travelling around British Columbia when I went to Vancouver blew my mind. A truly stunning place. I've camped in Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland too. Astonishingly pretty...but i've gotta say even a lot closer to home, the Isle of Skye is breathtakingly beautiful and unique.
