Where would you live if you could

I’d happily move to New England, north of Boston, probably New Hampshire. Or maybe even Maine.

Absolutely love going there on holiday, so do the kids. The mrs no so much, so I’ll get her a timeshare in Orlando and send her down there when she can bear it no more.

I like New England because outside of Boston and the major tourist traps, there’s so much space, so many nice beaches, so much countryside to explore.

I also like the US because every weekend you can hope on an internal flight somewhere new and interesting. Or even just drive over the Canadian border from New England.

What a place, wish I lived there now :)

Ive family in Killarney, down there a lot. Thriving town but very much geared towards the yank tourists and can feel a little tacky at times.
Love the national park though and has come on leaps and bounds in terms of the restaurant scene.
Dingle just has a charm you can’t buy and that peninsula is about as spectacular as Irish scenery gets.
Yeah I adore Dingle but the crowds in the summer are awful.

I live south of Boston and have done for 33 years. I do love it here and I especially like going north to New Hampshire and the Maine coast. But as I get older, I am liking the winters less and less. So while I would like to retain a place up here, I will be looking at spending at least the winters in somewhere warm.

@stablemcfc if you want decent weather forget Australia. They lied.
I arrived in September and its only just stopped raining. Until a week ago it was so cold at night I had a hat on in bed.
I was brought up on Skippy and that dolphin, all I can say is it was done in a studio. Aussies lie to everyone.
Haha where about are you staying?

I gather south coast probably isn’t great for weather, but west and east looked pretty good to me.

I’ll hopefully have a year to experience it for myself and travel a bit to see where suits.

Agreed, not a huge fan of the cold myself but it’s kinda novel I guess to see proper snow!

I like it south of Boston too, especially the cape, and down to Rhode Island (I found an all you can eat lobster buffet there that was incredible!)

Have driven down the eastern seaboard to Florida and loved it.

I love my kids, mrs and house. But if I wasn’t tied down with them I’d have moved across the pond years ago. I know a lot of ppl in and around Boston and New England, and America in general, and they all seem to have a really good quality of life. The biggest negative seems to be the insane traffic.

One of my favourite days ever was catching a load of mackerel off Marblehead, then using them as live bait to catch some ‘cows’. Just flicked through the photos on my phone and it brought back such great memories.

@stablemcfc We are in Sydney staying with my lad and more importantly, grandson.
They say that for the last 3-4 years they have copped La Nina which is bringing all the bad weather.
September is meant to be spring. Instead it's monsoon and when it's not raining boy is it cold. October was only slightly better. Let's see what November brings.

The climate over here is abysmal. So, somewhere with not so much bloody rain. I'm not looking for 365 days of temperatures in the mid-high 30s. I'm not a fan of roasting hot days, that wouldn't suit me at all. Mid 20s in the summer, low to mid teens in the winter with the occasional evening's drizzle.
