I remember the Shalebridge Cradle mission from Thief 3 scaring the shit out of me!

I didn't post a link but I did mention it. Here's a link. It advises you download the test releases not the normal game. I've only ever played the normal one but the test releases look spectacular. I'm resisting downloading it again because hours of my life disappear when I have this game around! ;)

I was light. Loved the twist, never saw it coming. Despite all the clues being there, as it shows you later on.

Another of my favourites that has wowed me is The elder Scrolls:Oblivion. (Xbox 360 , Ps3 , PC)
Absolutley class game, the longest game i have ever played. Some of the best graphics i have ever seen and never seems to get boring. Looked incredible in HD.
