Which players are no longer good enough?

Why play a high defensive line, with midfielders who won't track runners, against a high pace counter attacking team like Southampton? Watching Samir, who I support, jogging back was embarrassing.

The team work ethic is at fault here and that is cultural. I expect big changes in that area.

Our fitness levels seem to be the worst in the league. Either everyone else is on banned substances or nobody has been cracking the whip with regards to our player's lifestyles and fitness regimes.

We look like we're taking part in Soccer Aid most of the time.

This isn't football manager. A few players will leave and a few will come in. Realistically I expect at most 4-5 in, given the squad we have I would expect about the same number out, and as long as Bony out I'll be happy.

It's not a case of no longer good enough for most, it's more a case of not good enough in the first place.

We are masters at signing players who have never been or ever will be good enough for this level whilst criminally overlooking the talent we have produced from within.

The reason the likes of Kolorov started yesterday was because Pellegrini has not brought through players who have enough game time to come in and do a job.

It's his biggest failing. Over reliance on players that time and time again let him down. Bony, Kolorov, Delph and Demichellis being the prime examples from yesterday. How Kolorov and Delph got a game after the shit they produced at Newcastle is beyond me.

Sad to watch zaba yesterday. Some of the players don't care kolarov, bony some are just relegation standard, Delph but zaba was equally as bad.

From yesterdays line up only Hart, Nacho, Fernandinho and Sterling should feature next season. The rest are either (Way...) past their best or not up to the required standard.

Still hopeful for Wednesday but happy to see the end of this season...

Caballero, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Demichelis, Delph, Toure and Bony.
This is what is likely to happen except Delph would get another season. Two full backs, Denayer for Demichellis, CM for Yaya, a forward for Bony. This would already fill our CL/EL quota, wouldn't it ? Nacho doesn't qualify as Club grown next season also I believe.

Kolarov, Delph, Bony, sterling, nasri, zabaleta, naval, based on yesterday's performance against Southampton are not good enough for city anymore ,move them all on for better upgrades,it's not just losing that hurts, but the way you lose.

A couple more players have started to enter this discussion, this season better end soon for their own sakes.

CBx2, LB, RB, CMx3, GK (Caballero replacement), AM possibly if Pep doesn't fancy Nasri and RW, strengthening in those positions are needed

Sport a Barca based paper suggests the following 11 are out the door and I could live with that.

Caballero
Wright
Zabaleta
Sagna
Demichelis
Clichy
Kolarov
Yaya
Fernando
Nasri
Bony

That would leave

.................Hart
Denayer...Mangala...Otamendi..Kompany
Fernandinho..Silva...de Bruyne...Delph
Sterling...Aguero..Iheanacho...Navas

Looking at that we desperately need a LB and a RB and a reserve goalkeeper
2 midfielders as Delph won't be a starter and there are queries re Silva's fitness.

Get rid of everyone except Hart Nacho Aguero Silva and KDB. Rest of the first team squad are no longer good enough, some never were. (Sterling, Bony, Delph, Fernando, Mangala, Navas)

This season I'd be looking at moving on

zabba
demi
kolarov
delph
yaya
navas
Bony
the season after

sagna
vinny
both ferns
silva
nasri

Build a team around Kelechi, Aguero and KDB, Mangala has vastly improved too. The rest I could not care less what happens to them.

You may ask why not Hart? Must have the worst distribution in football goalkeeping history.

Hart's distribution is vastly improved over years past and he's a tremendous shot stopper. That said... he's not a sweeper. He''ll be traded under Pep.

I'd also keep:
Silva - I think he's still a great player, just needs to get back from injury
Fernandinho
Nasri - would give him a chance under Pep; lot's of talent just needing motivation.
Clichy, Sanga - can't change all the players and they're at least good enough for backup
Ottimendi - would like to see him play in a more organized team. Leaves his feet way too much for me, but may play much better under Pep.
Sterling - has potential. And at least fills a home grown slot.
Zaba - maybe a sentimental pick, but Zaba can at least fill a backup role when needed.

Edit - would also keep Fernando.
