Which players are no longer good enough?

maybe, but then you want a homegrown player to develop by playing as many games as possible. That wont happen at City. Didnt happen for Hart, he was loaned to Birmingham before he became our number 1.

True. Maybe an 'older head' a la richard wright then, who won't take up a slot, but will be content not to play much?

I'm not suggesting anyone because I don't know who'd fit the bill!

Very depressing to see Zab getting so many mentions. But we need to not let sentiment cloud our judgement. And, unfortunately, time seems to be reeling Zab in. He's a shadow of the player he was in our last title season. The injuries he has suffered seem to have taken their toll, he no longer is the speedmerchant he used to be.

How are we even in this predicament with the money we have spent ...
Signings like
Sterling
Mangala
Ottamendi
Bonny
Bad calls on all these players

I fully agree ^^^^^ this! We are a business and it's the equivalent of a global corporation taking on a few very very expensive execs and them all turning out to be apprentices in disguise. Poor excuses for footballers, especially the centre halves

Zabba was never a speed merchant. But he's been a brilliant servant for city. Got a huge heart.

Kolarov , Demichelis , Delph , Bony , Fernando , Toure , should leave , and one more season for Navas , Nasri , Sagna , Clichy , Zabs , Silva(depending on fitness) , Vinny (depending on fitness) , with Sterling and mangala given another season to prove themselves . A total rebuild of the squad required over the next couple of seasons if the club is serious about getting to champs league finals regularly and winning titles.

He regularly used to fly up and down the wing, providing overlaps on our attacks. He was no slouch.
I think Zabaleta has suffered more than most, mainly because City always dominated possession, and individual defensive weaknesses were rarely exposed.
Nowadays, we seem to lose control, every 3rd pass, and he always seems to find himself confronted with a tricky winger.

Caballero, Kolarov, Demichelis, Fernando, Yaya Toure, Zabaleta, Bony and one of Navas or Nasri will leave I think. Possibly one of Otamendi or Mangala if we get Laporte AND Stones, as rumoured.

Big summer ahead, thats for sure.

Don't see Fernando or Navas going anywhere. May not be far wrong on the others though. No stones please.

I have said several times that very few players are must keep; in fact, I would go so far as saying only Sergio, KDB and Nacho are must keep for Pep. I also think looking at replacing Hart would be a waste of money and energy at this point. That does not mean all the rest are not good enough: plenty of them are good enough to be in the squad but the squad will need balancing, depending on who can be acquired.

The players most in need of being upgraded are Zab, Bony, Kolarov, MDM and Delph.

The whole thing has a back to the drawing board feel to it .... Depressing, really.
