Who can replace Leroy Sane?

Are we talking about Aouar or Foden because one will cost us up to £50 million? and neither is a winger of any standard?

I meant Foden there mate. And well, Pep plays him wide a lot, he used to play off the right a fair bit in the England youth teams. Its something hes capable of but you're not wrong in implying hes best in the middle

Seems like Pep wants slow wingers now. Foden is definitely not a winger maybe if we still played the 4-4-2 under Pellegrini he might be one. In a 4-3-3 he needs to play as a CM which is his best position. It‘s nice having players who can play different positions but only on a handful of occasions.

I wouldn‘t mind just replacing David Silva with Foden and putting Bernardo into the middle. That gives room for another winger who might play on the left instead so Sterling can play more often on the right again with braaf as a backup for the left side.

Ah cheers for the clear up, but i would take Sancho and Hudson as wingers above Foden but central they can not touch him

In terms of ability, Saint-Maximin is good enough for a top team. His consistency (or lack of) may be a problem though.
He's a weird one because he's got all the skills and physical attributes to be a brilliant player but it's like he plays with a blindfold on, whenever I see him he seemed completely oblivious to his teammates.

If you were playing the game Wembley as a kid, he'd win every time but as a team player, I don't see how he would fit in here. We're all about positioning and teamwork, so it doesn't make much sense.

Sometimes positions are not relative. When Phil plays on paper as a left winger he doesn't always occupy that space. I've seen games where he was more central where Dave would be with Mendy higher up on the right. Within an attack positions can change and players need to dovetail. I've seen Mahrez more central with Kev out wide. I've seen Dave out wide. I've seen Kev on the left with Dave.

Pep will probably use more patterns of play to attack when Phil is penciled in as the "left winger". I could see patters of play where Aouar receives the ball out wide and Phil making an underlapping run to the byline kind of like what Kev does on the right for example or vice versa where Aouar makes that run.

I don't think getting a left winger would be the best thing if they aren't as good as Sane. Everyone will be quick to blame and say he's not a winger when it doesn't come off, but would you be quick to blame if the left winger didn't have a good game because he's not good enough? I said it before, but Dave is the lynchpin on the left. We've been going through him when we start attacks on the left. Aouar will probably be that guy if we can get him and also eventually take over for Gundogan when we play a 2 man midfield or also play as a #6. Probably more of a priority for Pep. It can change the dynamic of our attacks and probably be better for us against the likes of Liverpool and teams that press well.

Richarlison?
Hard to find a more complete attacker that's realistically going to be available. Quick, strong, technical, two footed, excellent finisher and dominant in the air. Excellent mentality and workrate. Can also play across the front three without any problems, I can see him taking the next step with better teammates
