2 days i do 9 til 4 and on Saturdays i knock off around 3pm. I certainly graft while i'm there but all in all a right cushy number.

I earn 50k, work from home (apart from wednesdays when I have to drive to London) Have a piss easy job that takes about an hour of my time each day, so I can walk the dog, sort the baby out etc...

Everyone says I'm on a cushy number, but I reckon a cushy number is doing something you love that gives you satisfaction everyday. Not many people get that, which is a shame. We shouldn't program our kids to copy us, we should be making sure they do what makes them happy.

Bullshit. I refuse to believe someone can earn £50k doing a ''piss easy'' job that requires working one hour a day from home.

And if it's not bullshit how the hell can you be dissatisfied with it???!!
That's the reason for my thread, I'm similar to Manky and am in the Northwest! Also decent perks and I have no commuting costs. Plus get double hours overtime occasionally when the department has an urgent project.

Everyone I tell says stick it out and keep my head down, but I think it's soul destroying. The missus would kill me if I walked out of another job, she says it's her turn.

Maybe it's karma for when I used to do mad hours in the nineties.

It takes me 10 seconds to get to my desk, i have sky sports news on all day and probably do about 2 hours of meaningful work each day. I get paid a decent wage for it all but im completely bored, feel like my mind is rotting slowly and after about a year of it cant do it any longer.

Got myself a new job on more money where i will actually have to push myself and earn my money. Gotta say i cant wait and am really looking forward to it.

My job is really busy and I rarely take a break, lots of variety, frustrating at times, but I love it.

I thought you were private? Sounds like NHS to me?

;-)

Me? I go to work, (when i'm not on the sick) check my vehicle, park up, go on the internet/watch a film/read a book/sleep and wait for some poor bugger to have a crash.

Easy :-)

Teaching English in Prague. I work about 20 hours a week (although there's a lot of travelling between classes involved), and often my 'job' is to have conversations with people. Obviously there is a fair bit of teaching involved but it is much, much easier than any of my previous jobs in law and marketing. I can afford to eat out at restaurants two or three times per week on what I'm paid as food (and beer) are so cheap here.

To be honest though I'm really missing having something more challenging to do. This has been a great experience but I'm looking forward to pushing myself a bit harder when I get to the States.

I had a right cushy posting when I was working in the public sector years a go. It was within the inbound enquiries team and the phones were only busy during term time. Even during term time the work was enjoyable, helping people and answering email enquiries.

Outside of term time the place was dead, nobody did any work, people had their own hobbies and internet sites to go on. It was pretty much a secret pact that nobody did any work but nobody could know outside of the team. I didn't even need to book half a day's leave when I traveled up to the city games, I just got up and went. My bosses never even bothered with the sick forms if you were absent.

My boss use to be gone for about 2 hours around lunchtime for zumba and a coffee. I never had that glum depressed feeling on late Sunday afternoon knowing I had to go to work the next day. I just use to play footy and go on a Sunday afternoon sesh without a worry in the world. They offered me a promotion within that team and I turned it down to move to a busier role elsewhere. Looking back, sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Wouldn't say my job is cushy by any stretch but having worked up to a senior position I can offload to minions to a degree. I do however (for the most part) love what I do, and I'm learning new things all the time which I think is key to a satisfying job.
