From the outside perspective, Ruben is clearly the one.
Laser focus, high standards, vocal, organised and accountable. Always striving to be better and never hides. Old enough to be an established senior player but young enough to play regularly for hopefully many years to come.
When Rodri's back from injury he'd be a fantastic vice-captain as he also has many of those qualities.
The team chose Kyle and they know better than us their reasons for doing so. And, having given them the choice, it's very difficult to take that away without making them feel disenfranchised.
Ironically, if Kyle actually was a great leader, he'd have stepped down when his personal problems became public. I appreciate that no-one is ever a completely perfect role model, and you certainly can't expect footballers to live like monks, but with everything he's had going on I just don't see how it could be possible for him to prioritise the team and the captaincy and give the job his full attention.
