Who was at Liverpool league Cup Semi Final 1981

I remember it well as if it was yesterday, not the football I add but the very cold journey home
by coach as at least 3 of the windows had been smashed by brinks. I was only 16 at the time
and I have and will never go back there. And here we are all these years later and nothing has changed !!
They are the scum of the earth I fucking hate them and would rather united win the league than them any day,
I was on a coach which got bricked within 30 seconds of turning onto queensway..under the first bridge, brick smashing its way thru skylight window, glass everywhere, everyone ducking...everton lc quarters 88...1st trip to Liverpool..what a welcome

Sat in the Liverpool end near the Kop, mayhem outside but not as bad as the quarter final at Goodison, that was the Wild West

The commentator for this, david coleman on match of the day says.."..and its bedlam on the pitch, and bedlam all around the ground"
Which i think sets ths scene.i never tire of watching the short highlights footage of this game cos the atmosphere is raw/brutal.
What a game,what a result.

Funny, because despite all the nastiness, the one thing I remember about the 81 Semi Final is an older supporters confiding that it was far worse in 73 when City played at Anfield, and Everton hosted Millwall.

That must have been a pretty grim experience, although I suppose the veterans might have referenced the Cup Replay in 56

Power scored in every fa cup match on run to wembley ,bar peterborough away 5th rd tommy booth 1nil
The day we beat Palace in the 3rd round, Peter Sutcliffe admitted to being the Yorkshire Ripper. He’d been arrested the day before. So it wasn’t only the LIverpool fans causing murders in those days.

Good point about the tricky trio Bond had signed to change the dynamics of our team ...All 3 players settled immediately and became very popular.Gow was my favourite, looked like he,d escaped from a touring 70s heavy -rock band to sign for us..bobby mac always seemed to pop up with important goals, as he showed in the later F A Cup quarter final replay at Maine rd..Tommy hutch..was he 43 y.o when he signed for us? Incredible.
It was indeed a remarkable performance by us over two legs with these very important, and in form players missing.

Funnily enough, the next time City were to reach the quarter finals, at least,of BOTH major domestic cup competitions, we met both liverpool and everton again ,under Mel Machin, losing heavily at Goodison and at home to Liverpool.1987/88 season.
Goodison was only 0-2.

I went by coach to that '73 Cup tie at Anfield, I think the kick-off times were supposed to have been staggered by 30 minutes but for some reason both games finished at more or less the same time so four sets of fans were all milling around Stanley Park. Millwall beat Everton and we got a 0-0 at Anfield so all the Scousers were in an even worse mood than usual. The coaches for both games were parked on opposite sides of Priory Road, you can imagine the chaos.

Presumably that's the game where some Millwall tried to get in the Gwladys Street and got badly cut up?...
