Yeah it was men against boys really.Everton were too hard fast and smart for us that night...it felt like a mis-match to be honest...one of those nights where everything goes wrong..from being bricked on queensway,to finding out varadi wasnt fit to partner stewart up front...Lake stepped up as 2nd striker but made no headway against Kendalls well drilled team.getting to wembley was a big big thing back in those days,and can remember feeling gutted at the final whistle-what was all that about,we were never in it.tough first trip to mersyside that.Remember going to that game from London with some of the London supporters club members. We were totally outclassed that night from memory but Everton were very good back then.
I didn’t go in 81 but was there in 73. I’m not sure about the millwall fans being badly cut up though. Their game ended before ours and I just remember walking back to Lyme st and there being battered scousers red and blue all over the place. We got through Scot free but when we reached the station there was a mob of no more than 50 Millwall fans at the entrance shouting come on City let’s batter the cnuts. We declined to join them and sneaked in a side entrance :)Presumably that's the game where some Millwall tried to get in the Gwladys Street and got badly cut up?...
I was at the boxing day match in '81 I don't remember much trouble at that one to be honest.Went to the league game at anfeild in 81. The match was played on a Tuesday night after the fa cup final replay with spurs. What a nightmare that was, pulled knives out on us in our own end. Police said "you shouldn't have come you Manc ****s. No more than a couple of hundred city there. There was about 15 of us from rusholme, try to get back to lime street was like the warriors trying to get back to Coney Island.

That's the one, there was also a fountain there in that pub were people threw money in for good luck. Police come on the coach and said there was something like £30 quid missing from it ( how they figured that out I don't know) parked the coaches up walked through stanley park which was covered in snow.Remember stopping at a Steak House type pub on the east lancs & all the steak knives left at the same time the coaches did
