Who was your favourite comic character ?

I visited Parc Asterix a few years ago. Small and compact, but better value than the rip-off that is Disneyland Paris.
In the centre of the place is a signpost pointing in 4 different directions - all of them to Rome!
Loved Astrix, the illustrations were gorgeous, and the English translation was very clever with the characters names.

The Meekon.
I presume you mean the Mekon, Dan Dare's bitter enemy.
Somewhere in my loft, I still have the 1953 Eagle Annual, in reasonable nick, although I must have read it many times from cover to cover over the years.,
Coincidentally, the first ever Eagle comic was published on the day I was born - 14 April 1950.

Boris the Blond Buffoon.
He got up to all kinds of tricks...like partying when every other fucker was banned from visiting loved ones in hospital. Great laugh.

As mentioned, Asterix - a classic writing and drawing, and an incredible English translation by a couple of people IIRC.

And because we went to France a lot as a kid, I also enjoyed the stories of Lucky Luke (cowboy), and Gaston Lagaffe (a lazy laid back inventor dude who worked for a print company).

On the home front, I enjoyed a lot of Battle Picture Weekly:
Charley's war - being the standout - illustration, story writing, historical detail
Johnny Red & The Bootneck boy - both of which remind me currently of Mariopol situation.
Darkie's mob - a very different story from WWII in Burma.
Can't remember the name , but something like The Fall Guy - about a german paratrooper - different and good.
Major Eazy - escapism
The Rat pack - escapism
I'm sure there were others, but they escape might accumulating years!
