Who's next??

Thank you! I Read almoste everything. It doesn't seem impossible to meet the rules..with our financial team im sure we make it. :D But it still would be wiser to do most of the business this january than next summer? This years losses wont count, right?

The obvious assumption has to br that Roberto Mancini is desperate to offload the trio of Santa Cruz, Adebayor and Jo.

Two of these will be gone by 31/1/11.

We need at the very least one more striker. I'd suggest we invest £12m in Southampton teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before Arsenal complete his signature in the next 7 to 10 days to rotate with Dzeko and Balotelli.

Secondly, we know we need more midfield creativity. The absence of David Silva at the Emirates was telling. Those mentioned earlier in the thread, especially Gourcoff, are the kind we need. For me Gourcoff, Silva and Tevez would offer enough creativity in midfield with assistance fom Adam Johnson operating on either of the wings.

Clearly, Mancini is going to feel A lot better when at least one of either Santa Cruz or Adebayor is no longer at Eastlands. This to balance the 25 man squad that has to be notified to the Premier League as at 1/2/11.

mate you can't get a Gourcuff type to sit on the bench the majority of the time, or when Silva is fit and playing. Football just doesn't work this way.

wouldn't have to be the majority of the time, besides it would depend on who we play and what formation Mancini chooses. Silva and Gourcuff could take the field with Milner, Barry, and NDJ if Mancini played a 3-5-2 for instance

I see quite a few posters saying that this is the last window where anyone we buy will not be counted in the new FFP rules.

This was thought to be the case but UEFA moved the goalposts to say that even players signed before would count; just that their transfer fee would be divided over the years of the contract.

So..it doesn't really matter anymore as UEFA are determined to penalise us.

While City say the new rules are very important, and they intend to meet them, behind the scenes I think the plan is very different. My guess is that they've said we can't meet UEFA's guidelines so we might as well miss it by a mile and win the Prem then call UEFA's bluff and see if they ban us.

Hence Mr Dzeko.

I don't think we will buy anyone else this window unless there are significant departures however though I think RSC Jo Logan and Caicedo might be sold without replacement.

I thought the idea was to loan out all the players we want to sell until the new rules come into play and then sell them, making our books look good.

Typical of the mutation of some of our fans. Never satisfied or can take in what we have just been gifted. It's all about who is next.

I'm delighted with Edin, I honestly didn't expect a single high profile signing this January. I'll just enjoy his signing.

Didn't Bobby say in November or something that we were going to pick up 3 players or so. I don't understand how anyone is surprised that we are buying in January. I would be shocked if we didn't buy two more and I expect one will be Luiz. Its only a matter of time before he comes to one of the big leagues. Benifica knows this and will sell when they think they have the best offer they can get...that will be from us.

i'd love to see us sign swinestiger but don't think we have a chance of that one would see if we could do a deal with real madrid getting benzeema in on loan and letting ade go the other way would fit in nice on the left hand side of a 3 man attack
