Why are Africans such poor footballers?

funny, I seem to remember a certain African centre forward exhibiting perfect chest control and perfect technique on the volley recently. even chris waddle was salivating over the technique involved in that goal. or maybe am I confusing that with the perfect, effortless control of a 40 yard pass and perfect strike he hit the week before?

honestly

It's subjective mate. IMO Adebayor is not world class on the ball. There is no need for that final remark. Everyone is intent on crushing my argument without offering reasoned debate.

I think the OP has a decent point. Yes, there are some African players who are good on the ball, but most are the physical type. I think in many cases it's down to the fact that the African race as a whole are bigger than Spaniards, Italians, Brazillians, etc. so they focus on this strength, whereas in other countries they have to work on technical ability because they don't have the physical ability. My mate, who moved over here from South Africa when he was about 10, was like this for a long time. He's always played football and been strong and quick and says that he doesn't even go to the gym or go running, so it seems he's just naturally gifted. When he joined our team, all he could do was run, and everyone even had to tell him where to run. But he's worked on his passing and all that and is now a very good player. So it seems the coaching in Africa is a bit different to Europe.

Don't know how much sense that makes, cba reading over it haha.

This might be shocking for you but there are different kinds of people in Africa just like in Europe... Some regions have taller and some shorter people. Africa isn´t all the same... Algeria is a bit different than Somalia or whatever.

racist nob.

Why is he racist - statement of fact that Africa does not produce as many good footballers - yes it has produced some outstanding individual players but collectively the teams are somewhat piss poor.

The reason for the Afican Nations Cup was because African teams never got into the World cup because they could not qualify for it - hence they have it every two years - they are getting better now but still someway off.

Did you see the Afcrican Nations Cup - the semi was fookin laughable

Now had he not said Africa but Scotland would you be screaming racist nob.

Some outstanding individual players but some fookin awful ones (Diouff ranks along side Barton) and generally piss poor to average teams

Anyone who's anyone will focus on their strengths....

just so happens that African genetics often pan out differently to that of say a spaniard, so to stereotype an african here they are taller, physically stronger, longer reach, bigger feet. therefore they are more likley to depend on these physical features. intelligence will lead them to be technically gifted.

whereas to stereotype a spaniard here, they are shorter, smaller feet and physically weaker.
they will therefor make use of their physical attributes resulting in playing the game differently than a stereotypical african would.

if Cesc Fabregas would of grew up in some 3rd world village in senegal with no access to any of the facilities which were presented to him whilst in spain, he would use his strength alot more than his technical ability.

People aren't born with technical ability, its coached - some pick technique up quicker than others do.

Times change anyway, football is alot more accessible in 3rd world countries now, the kids over there are more aware of Messi/Ronaldo/Deco etc and try to implement in their game what they see on tv.

I mean heres Englands white team 442:

Joe hart
gary neville-matthew upson-john terry-wayne bridge
adam johnson-steven gerrard-frank lampard-stewart downing
wayne rooney-peter crouch

and black team:

david james
glen johnson-wes brown-joleon lescott-ashley cole
aaron lennon-jermaine jenas-tom huddlestone-ashley young
gabriel agbonlahor-jermaine defoe

the defense on the black team is alot better, as is the wingers alot more pace, midfield centre the white team wins hands down no argument there but upfront although rooney is white the partnership of the black team provides alot more pace and would beat alot of teams on the counter-attack.

most players on the black team are short ass and skinny except for lescott and david james oh and tom huddlestone. agbonlahor is quite tall but not exactly emile heskey is he.

Clubs have scouts in these countries looking for something specific.
exceptional players will always defy the norm, no matter what race

Racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Or, on the opposite side, racism can be described as the belief that a certain race or races portray undesirable characteristics.

Therefore to measure footballing ability by reference to race is the very definition of racism. You might not like it, but it is. Pure and simple.

It is also patently wrong. Was the European championship because we can't win the world cup? Why if African players are so bad, do so many play for the top European teams?

The premiss is racist.

Did you not read my posts. I have mentioned everyone of those players. You need a video of Drogba though. I'm not sure whether you are with me on this or against me.
LOL!!
Can you name an African playmaker?
