Why are we being linked with mid level signings?

At present the club are reportedly 600-650k per week better off in wages..Kolo,Tevez,Santa Cruz,Bridge..

Now if reports are to believed that we are paying less wages for fernandinho and Navas with a much more win incentive bonus structure then the club are doing right.
I still think the club are going to make a huge signing this summer..A Suarez,Cavani type..just to let the world know we aren't scared of FFP and even though we are not Madrid/Barca we will compete with the best for the best

old fuddy duddy springs to mind!! small minded attitude and people cant keep bringing up the good old days when we had nothing as its a pointless argument! the board want us to be one off the biggest clubs in the world and that means you need the biggest players marv! in the last 2 champions league seasons we were mullered by Dortmund twice, in Madrid we could have been 5 down at half time but for joe, Napoli battered us twice and even ajax taught us a lesson! at some point we have to take the plunge on certain players. I will always be grateful to the owner for saving the club and the players that we have but players like isco and cavani would have lifted us to a higher level and with Mario gone and carlos now as well plus the other players like bridge, roque and kolo gone then there should be money available to sort something out. not every post about this is from spoilt kids, remember years ago a house would cost £20,000? now they are £200,000-400,000 for a decent one? times change mate and if we want to be the best then there are only certain players who will make us the best and isco and cavani would have made us a hell off a lot better.

Dortmund, Napoli and Ajax are hardly famed for there big money signings which would point to a different issue rather than the fact we are not spending enough money, like Mancini was way out of his depth at that level

JCL ****. How dare you say such about Roberto 'son of god' Mancini.
Luckily I saw the name before I replied, haha<br /><br />-- Tue Jul 02, 2013 8:34 am --<br /><br />

I think we will sign whoever we believe is best for the team. We dont need to make these "statments of intent" anymore. We have proved we are here to stay. Last season was a disaster for a lot of fans and a delight for rivals which shows how far we have come. We have many great players we dont need to sign big names because it shows people

I disagree with part of what you are saying. The club does need to make a marquee signing every now and again. Our last one was Aguero. All the big boys do it and of we want to be at the top table we have to keep progressing and improving signings. Look at whht happened last season. I still believe if we'd have signed RVP the league would have been retained. True it is an irrelevence now but we should have learnt from this

its because the real top level signings are also being chased by the biggest clubs in the world and we're not big enough to compete with them yet

are Chelsea bigger than us?? really? and the future we are building?? they just pay the money! we`ve lost out on hazard and now isco purely down to agents fees. its wrong I know that they ask/get this money but we are missing out on the best young players in Europe!
They're a established champions league club who've won a lot of trophies recently so are seen as a bigger club around Europe atm

Why not just ask Ric if you can be a mod and stop telling other mods what to do
Another case in point for the mod on the buttons to assess on his petty meter.
Is this supposed to make sense in English
only in translation obviously.

Oh I get it now. you obviously got shot down by a mod at some point for something you perceive to be trivial but have taken it to heart and are now on a one man borefest every time a mod doesn't warn or ban someone for something you believe you were persecuted for

Dont think getting the likes of Kolo, Bridge, RSC off the wage list is a huge thing certainly not by Txiki. It would have been two years ago or last summer but we nearly paid their full wages even in last years when were nowhere near to paying for City.

Now they are off to wage list as their contract expired finally.

Selling Tevez are clearly a better business saving wages and getting some decent fee (in case if we replace him with a very good striker!) tho we will see other good strikers in their final year moving for lot more like RVP last season, Lewandowski this season etc...

Huge savings on the wages probably a needed step for FFP anyway, its a joke we are the highest paid team and we are a laughting stock in Europe EL or CL doesnt matter. Most of our subs paid more than Dortmund starters...
And they arent as good players also performing lot less than those Dortmund guys.

Probably Kolarov and Lescott both are on bigger wages than anyone at Dortmund. Would sell them without a question. And would get replacements for smaller wages.

Why are we in for lesser players and not Ibra, Cavani etc?

I think it is for financial reasons mostly. Top top players want huge wages 200k or even 250k per week and some extra. On top of huge transfer fees and agent fees.

We found very motivated players in Navas, Fernandinho they were happy to come here and accept a good wage which is probably more than what they got in previous clubs but we did not triple their wages like we did with many players in the Garry Cook era which was horrible.

I didnt see many top clubs were after Fernandinho and Navas I mean if Chelsea is in for them or Real we wouldnt really get them or only for higher price with bigger wages.

When we face competition for players like Isco, Hazard, RVP, or Cavani now we have to offer big fees to clubs, agents, and the player too. We keep missing out on these players.
(Was there big competition for Garcia, Sinclair, Nastasic?)

I think its financial reason. We are working on making losses smaller and smaller. And we are really behind in match income compared to the rivals even if we are getting closer to them in sponsor and prize money, we have to make our losses smaller with not spending that much only with selling serious players (Balo, Tevez) and maybe getting not those big names for a few years.

In two consecutive years its easily possible the biggest name we get will be Fernandinho. Who is a very good players would surprise everyone if someone says the best player we get between June 2012 and August 2013 is a Brazilian guy from Ukraine, a good box to box midfielder.

Almost exactly wrong but please don't let that be perceived as a criticism.
