Why did we let Zinchenko go?

But we aren't evolving, this season we are going backwards, and I thought haaland was.the answer to Sergio and bernado was the answer to David?
Haaland is the problem, we try to hit him too quickly, we've changed a tried and trusted formula to incorporate Haaland, where we should just have carried on the same and he would have scored anyway just like Aguero used to do.

Some people rewriting history here a fair bit

Go and look at the Zinchenko thread over the last couple of years, and you'll see plenty of people saying how poor he was defensively, and how teams would target that side as our weakness

He's always been good at what he's doing now for Arsenal, and he's excelling as that is what they're asking him of him

If we wanted to go, then fair play theres nothing wrong with that. I very much doubt he thought he was going to a club that was going to be challenging us for the title in his first season

Yes. I honestly don't see what anyone sees in Cancelo. I think he’s a poor defender and not much better in the inverted FB position.
He's definitely not a left back.
There is no doubt that Cancelo has a better skill set but where he lets himself down in comparison to Zinny is attitude. Zinchenko was moved into an unfamiliar position and never moaned, never put himself above the team. Cancelo for all his unbelievable ability is prone to playing as though someone has killed his cat - he sulks too much and you can see when things don't go as planned he is one player who gives up.

It's a redundant argument though because like Gabby he wanted to move as he felt he had gone as far as he could with us and needed a change of scene. Best of luck to him apart from the two games against us which we have to win if we want to retain the title.

Always thought he was bobbins as proven at Everton.
He was bobbins at Everton but he was brilliant for us in that 2017-18 season when Mendy did his cruciate.

I can only think of United’s goal at Old Trafford and Huddersfield goal at their place where Delph wasn’t concentrating fully and they scored. Other than that he was examplary.

He might have been poor in his career before that point and after that point but he was as good that season as Zinchenko ever was for us.

I mentioned games earlier on where Zinchnko showed he wasn’t top class, in some top class games. He was poor in each of the following:
EFL Cup final v Chelsea
Community Sheild v Liverpool
Champions League final v Chelsea
And nearly even cost us the first goal in the FA Cup final v Watford (Ederson saved from Deeney).

Haaland is the problem, we try to hit him too quickly, we've changed a tried and trusted formula to incorporate Haaland, where we should just have carried on the same and he would have scored anyway just like Aguero used to do.
I agree but Aguero was different, he was explosive, he would come deep pick the ball up and run at players, haaland comes deep about twice a game, picks it up passes it straight away then just runs
