Why Don't Asians Support City?

Im black but English and a blue and I can answer this question simply by saying its not an asain/white/black/latin thing. People are naturally attracted to power and beauty and in sports thats the team thats winning. Support the team that is winning and you fit in more. A mate and I had to disown "a friend" who went from being a die hard Arsenal fan at Uni, to a Chelsea fan in his early twenties and now is a die hard scum fan. You get my point, I am of the belief people who can switch teams with the drop of a hat just because their team is not doing so well are not to be trusted.

Also with regards to the England shirts, the world has changed so much now every country has a population from somewhere else. I was at the WC in South Africa and saw Americans with Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Dutch, Mexico and every other shirt. I saw French, English, Australians with similiar getups basically what it is second or third generation populations to a country who still hold their parents or grand parents countries with high regard. I see no problem with this. Look at Desially, what is he Ghanian, French or other?? Its the modern world I am afraid, I am sure they are all just as loyal to their new homes. For example Zidane said he would support Algeria if they played France, yet he won the WC with France.

So like most people the Asian scum fans are trying to fit in and be accepted and best way is not to go against teh grain, being a blue is hard work. Ups and Downs and years of frustration thats why true blues are tougher than all the rest.

I've noticed this.

I see a lot of black people at City, which is expected as Manchester is a diverse City.

Don't know why we don't attract the Asian population of Manchester though.
I'm Asian and have watched City for other 30 years, but I have rarely seen many other Asians. Rightly or wrongly Asians in England don't feel safe/comfortable in or around football. It's not a football problem, or a City problem. The Asian community is to significant extent informally segregated due to racism. The Irish, Jews and West Indians have all faced these problems in the past, but due to the recent and focus on "terror" Asians don't feel welcome in wider society. It only takes 1 comment / bad experience from 1 person in a 1000 to make you think again about venturing out of the comfort zone.

Do you reckon they were going before 1993 and do you reckon they got them seats next to the dug out after being on a waiting list for years?

I've always had at least one of these blokes down as being a bit of a gloryhunter.

The reason being as follows.

About two years ago I got black cab in Manchester. It was being driven by a Sikh bloke. Not being one for wanting a massive conversation with cabbies I didn't really catch much of his face.

Anyway, I get in the back and there's a mini poster type thing of the above three blokes (or maybe it was just one of them - can't remember now) on some sort of TV clip or United merchandising/advert.

I considered telling him to stop the cab and I'd walk, but I would have been late for a meeting.

Anyway, what struck me was, how much of a self publicising clown do you have to be to want everyone who gets in your cab to know that you are 'one of those blokes who goes to Old Trafford.'

To me that is the sign of someone crying out for a bit of celebrity and a very gloryhunter/ragish type of behaviour.

And I'd say the same if it was a City fan. Who gives a shit? Really?

Now, I will repeat, I only really got a prolonged look at the back of this bloke's head and it is quite possible that it wasn't one of these blokes. But if that was the case then it leads me to ask why on Earth you would have a poster up in your cab of some other bloke. Even if you know the other bloke, it is still very weird.

Therefore, and considering that they seem to love to get their mugs on United branded advertising, as seen in the picture above, I have at least one of them, possibly all three down as gloryhunters who seem to revel in their status as 'celebrity reds.'

The taxi episode just backs it up for me.

I can't stand self styled 'celebrity' fans like that tosser with the bell at Portsmouth and various others at other. I have the taxi driving bloke, if it was him, firmly in exactly the same bracket.

Was I supposed to strike up a conversation based upon how impressed I was with the picture?

All that waffle and you don't even know if he was one of them?

People with bells at football grounds - disgraceful - glad we don't/didn't have any.

Most of the asians where i work either support pool or the rags, maybe in time more will choose us, ie, the little ones that are growing up now.

im sorry mate this argument doesnt add up "at city" the three ethnic backgrounds you metioned, jew, try the old cheetham hill market, west indians at the times your talking about where was maine road, and as for the irish, im one and tbh honest weve been infiltrating the English since the spud famine.

i prey this isnt taken the wrong way but your opinion of how "natives" think of you may be down to you. Blue means, creed, colour, sexual orientation, religeon means nothing!!!!!

Wrong and on so many levels.

Did you not read my previous post or did you feel like spouting shite again? Or did the truth not fit your agenda?

Yes, I read your previous post and it in no way changes my experience.

I couldn't care less if you know them or not, I am deeply suspicious of people who are put forward as 'the face' of any set of fans or as a 'well known fan' and don't like any of them. United fans, City fans, Portsmouth fans or fans of anyone else. I can't imagine a situation where anyone would want to put themselves forward as such, even if they were invited to by the club. For most people, I imagine the last thing on Earth they would want is to be plastered all over stuff as 'THE City/United/whoever' fans.

Saying that, I know that there are a lot of people who would revel in it, including many City fans, I find them sad too, if that's ok with you.

I don't like anyone who puts themselves forward as the face, the voice or a representative of football fans in any situation, other than when dealing with serious matters that require communication with the club, and I think a lot of football fans feel the same.

It all stinks of liking a little bit of celebrity and that is a trait I despise in any walk of life.

Now, if that offends you because you know these blokes, then sorry, but it is my opinion and would be the same about anyone from any club. Perhaps they aren't like that but I would then ask why they are plastered on to official stuff from United and why numerous people on here recognise them immediately as 'those United fans'.

As I've said, if the taxi was driven by one of them then that just strengthens my opinion that they he is a bit too keen on the whole 'z list celebrity' stuff. (Perhaps you can confirm if one of them drives a taxi and why they would want to let everyone who gets in that you are 'that United fan')

If it wasn't then I still question why anyone would be shallow enough to want to covet a reputation as 'those well known United/City/whoever fans.'

As for the 'agenda' comments. If that is suggesting what it sounds like then I don't know why you haven't got the bo11ocks to come out and say it. I'm quite happy that my history and stance on numerous matters that are much more important than football, including, if you like, my posts on certain matters in the off topic section of this site, make that completely laughable and a ridiculous suggestion. Do expand though, if you like.

I know quite a few asians who support utd, wear the shirts , have the little shirts in car etc etc & none of them have ever been near old trafford. Theres your answer. One lad in in my street was still proudly wearing his utd top with TEVEZ on the back 4 months after he`d signed for us.
Not much different to southern rags realy.
