but has he won anything...no!

Give it a rest, that argument is nonsense.

Look at the mans abilities/achievments in relation to his resources.Look at the attractive/attacking football he plays and also look at the fact that few,if any, speak ill of him.

He will do wonders with the quality we already have as well as adding to it.He will build a complete/balanced squad capable of adaptability and, when needed, differing styles of play.

Exciting times and i genuinely believe in 12 months we will be adding to our trophy cabinet again.

My concern about Pellegrini is that he managed to achieve zero success whilst managing arguably the most expensively assembled and talented squad in the world when he was at Real Madrid.

He did better in his first season at Madrid than that prick Jose Mourinho.

You know, Jupp Heynckes did not win a trophy (only the Intertoto Cup like Pellegrini) between 1998 and 2012, yet is closing in on a treble with a Bayern Munich side he has turned into Europe's best football team.

There are circumstances behind Pellegrini's lack of trophies in Europe since he arrived in 2004. All but one of his years in Europe have been at modest clubs where he has massively overachieved. His transformation of Villarreal (town population: 51,000) from nothing club into Champions League semi finalists and the last team to ever break the Barcelona/Real Madrid top two monopoly is one of the greatest in modern history.

This guy is being trailed by many of Europe's top clubs, why do you think the likes of Barcelona, PSG, Roma, Chelsea, and City - all ambitious clubs - are not concerned about his lack of trophies since they have or are considering him? Think about that for a minute, there is much more to football than what appears on the surface or else Begiristain would simply have appointed Mourinho at Barcelona instead of reserve team coach Guardiola. These people in charge of the clubs listed above aren't imbeciles, they are football men who know far more about any of us about managers and yet all of them have been in contact with his agent at some point in the last year.

Nicely put.

I think it is harsh to judge Pellegrini on one season at Real.

The year he was there the Barca team were just unbelievable. The transfers were all done by Perez and he ignored Pellegrini's requests.

One season shouldn't tar his CV because he didn't win anything. As we have seen with Mancini in most cases you need time as a manger and at Real you don't get it.

I think the reasons we are picking Pellegrini are pretty clear so no point going back over it. It will be up to him to prove those doubting him wrong and prove those praising the decision prove right.

When our current managers change of tactics revolves around taking off our best forward and putting on another defensive midfielder in order to push a knackered Yaya further up the pitch,i'll take Pellegrini's abilities over his any day.
