WHY.........So much negativity!

If ( and it's looking quite a big if right now ) Mancini kept his job until the end of the current campaign and retained the title, would those who think he should go revise their opinion or would it remain the same ?
It would be stupid to give him the push mid-season, and for that reason I think he will be here next May. However, if we don't retain the title (and that will be difficult now), I don't hold out much hope for Mancini still being here next August. The owners are looking for progress year on year; CL qualification and the FA Cup in 2010/11 and then PL champions in 2011/12 were signs of progress. However; another FA Cup win (at best) this season would not be ''progress''. If he does retain the title however, then he certainly deserves another season.

I'm unable to predict the future unfortunately mate and how they do is of little relevance to me on a personal level and us as a club.

We have failed twice now to get out of the group stages and we have failed in the Europa to make our mark.

That failure is going to have serious consequences both off the pitch financially and on it through continued tough draws which we have to get on and tackle and not wonder how the rags, arse or chavs would do imo.

the relevance is if english teams have been falling behind in the champions league it goes without saying we would struggle as well, i asked your opinion of how well the rags and arsenal will do, i didn't ask you to predict the future

it wasn't long ago we dominated in europe we are now falling behind

I don't think the rags or the arse will do well. Both poor teams compared to previous years.

Our combined coefficients are still very good and it would take a number of years of combined, continued failure for us to be affected that way but in the meantime, we need to start performing and helping ourselves.

I agree and this was my point, i understand we have been under performing this year but find it strange why no one has even considered that the premier league at the moment is producing teams that find it hard to compete in the champions league

Would you swallow a pride and apologize to "pathologically negative internet warriors" who in that case would prove that they were smarter than you and realize it much earlier?

I refer you to my previous response - there are people on this board who value their opinions being proven 'correct' than the success of the club.

Instability is not a condition that is conducive to success - therefore to induce instability, boo the team, criticise the players etc etc to negatively impact things the club and the team are trying to achieve and create the conditions for our manager to get sacked just so you can prove you are 'smarter' is crass in the extreme.
I on the other hand couldn't give a monkeys how 'intelligent' a football fan people on here think
I am. I support the club and don't believe that things are anywhere near as bad as being made out by some - end of. I will also happily share my opinion on why for those that care.

I'm sure I could trawl through hundreds of posts from 'fans' after the Swansea and arsenal games last season calling for the managers head at that point......and we went on to win the league.....press the pause button at that point and those people would look stupid.....we win the next three and united lose those people like DD would look stupid again....the point being.....you can only make judgements when the season has played out and make judgements at that point.

Until then, share opinions, but ultimately support the team and the manager in the achievement of their objectives.

That's a bit of a disingenuous leap of faith isn't it?!! How to get from questioning whether a particular manager has it in him to take us to the next level, on an internet forum, to booing the players and trying to get the manager sacked on purpose just to prove a point, in one easy lesson! No-one on here has suggested booing anyone, and it is misleading and ridiculous to suggest otherwise

Sorry but the sentiment expressed on here does transmit itself to a match day witness the booing at halftime against Reading. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to suggest that it will be the self same people who are throwing their toys out of the pram on here who are booing at half time and screaming blue murder at a misplaced pass. That may not apply to you (I was talking generally) but there is no doubt in my mind that what is expressed on here is reflected on a match day

I want Mourinho as i think he is an upgrade on Bob and will take us to the next level but i dont sit here, misty eyed with thoughts on him being our Fergiescum, i only care that we keep moving forward as a team and as a club.

Mourinho would go and we would replace him just like any other player or manager.

Do we really want our own Fergiescum - an arrogant, overbearing bastard who baits referees and starts arguments in an empty room? That is what we would get with Mourinho. He would take the side forward to the next level but NOT the club. No, no, no. We would be hated like the scum are now and rightly so.

Also I don't think anybody on here argues that he isn't a good manager. In fact domestically he's up there with the best. But we want to succeed in European competitions and I think the time over the 2 clubs have confirmed that he isn't able to do that.

Despite being given ridiculously hard groups each time.

Exeter Blue. You are entitled to your opinion, but I am certainly not being a 'dickhead'. What pisses most supporters off is that we have arseholes who crap on boards like this and then furthermore carry it over to matches where they boo players merely for being on the pitch with their incorrect, pathetic predjudices against certain players, or in your case, the manager. Hence we get quality players like Patrick Vieira, Javi Garcia, Alexander Kolarov etc, getting booed when their name is announced before the game even starts, followed by non stop slating from a section of arseholes who know absolutely f all about football. Mostly these arseholes are the types that come on here and demand the manager gets the sack after a couple of bad results, know what I mean ?! In your case your opinion is not constructive. you demand the manager is replaced. Why ? We are champions of England and he has brought us more glory in the last two years than I have ever seen in a lifetime. yet that still is not enough for some people who crap on about a european record. Well, the CL is a cup competition that anyone can win. We were in two hard groups and we have not got through. It took Ferguson 15 years to win the thing and he has won it twice in over 25 years of trying.Let's at least give RM a few more attempts. We are building for the future and bringing somebody in short term, e.g. Hiddink or Mourinho will make things worse, not better. Those who seriously believe we should win every game we play, e.g. sunderland away ( our first away defeat of the season by the way ) should go and support someone else and leave the real supporting to those of us who have been going through thin and thin for nearly fifty years.

Apologies if you're not being a dickhead, but here's why it seems like you are. You have assumed that I didn't celebrate our recent successes because I "don't rate" Mancini (something I've already explained is not the case). You have assumed that people who vent their spleen on here do the same thing on a Saturday afternoon, something you cannot possibly substantiate unless you know all the posters on here and have seen them doing it. You have assumed I am one of those people ( I am not. I have never booed a City player). You have accused me of "demanding" Mancini be sacked. I have not. I have opined that I believe there is a glass ceiling on Mancini in terms of his ability to take us to the next level, something I think is born out by 9 years of systematic failure in Europe and also by his apparent difficulty in overcoming certain tactical formations domestically. You have assumed with your last paragraph that I am some sort of Johnny come Lately. I am not. I attended my first live City game in 1974 and have had a season ticket intermittently since 1983 and continuously since 2001. I know all about supporting my team through thin and thin thanks. If there's one thing that wicks me off on here it's the arrogant and foolish assumption that just because someone dares to criticise an aspect of the club on an Internet forum, they can't be a real fan. Oh and you still haven't answered my questions.....presumably cos the answers won't fit with your stated position?

Mourinho has the press eating out of his hand in the same way Baconchops does.

Rival fans will hate us as we really start to dominate but i wont be losing any sleep over that and neither should you.

We are pretty much universally hated and despised now but even worse, we are not respected on a European level and my bet would be Mourinho would soon change that.

As if Mancini isn't that type of coach...

My nomination?

Ivan Jovanovic

Anyone remember Apoel Nicosia from last years CL?

Made it all the way past Porto, Shaktar, St. Pete's and Lyon to get to the quarter-finals against Real Madrid.

Now THAT is what I call coaching to the highest order. His defensive mind is purely genius, I am surprised he has not been hired in mainland Europe as a result of his success with a club worth roughly $400k.

My guess is people think we've lost the league already. It feels like it but the truth is we've still got a great chance of winning it, with some very serious provisos....

Unfortunately we live in an age when people get their kicks by mouthing off on internet forums, the treatment of our manager by some of our fans is pretty pathetic to be honest

The one thing i have learnt since the weekend is how terrible some of our supporters are, if our ship is sinking the rats are certainly deserting, no class, no loyalty, no decency

i hope they drown

Sorry to go back to the first page but hey! We may be moaners, and some of us may be rats, but we don't have a track record of deserting a sinking ship.
