Why The Hell Would Anyone Want Mancini Sacked ?

A 9pt gap when you look at the fixtures they have played could be too much to overturn, it's not losing hope but cold reality of things getting very tough if we let it reach that point. It's bordering on blind faith I think to believe that they will let another huge lead drop while fully conscious of what happened last season. They do have the banana skins like Stoke away left, but so do we - Everton away where we NEVER win. Beating Newcastle is so important because we will comfortably beat Reading at home next week I think so that would be 6pts that United would have to match before we go to yet another bogey ground (bit sick of these) Sunderland the week after.

A defeat tomorrow and the title is gone.

Utd have Vidic and Kagawa coming back who will be two crucial players for them after xmas. We have 3 away games whilst they have 3 home games coming up over the xmas period.

Utd have beaten Chelsea away, Liverpool away, Us away and Arsenal at home. We have only taken 3 points against those sides and 0 against Utd. This will be crucial come the end of the season. They have dropped points against Everton but will beat them at home this season. Any realistic City fan cannot see them losing at home to Chelsea, Liverpool home or Arsenal away second half of the season when it counts. Forget last season and the 8 points. As some have said, it wont happen again.

These next few games are so important. Utd wont slip up at home to Sunderland or Newcastle.

Personally, I feel we have already started to lose our grasp on the title. The unbeaten point was hammered to death. Ultimately, due to not winning any of the big games other than Spurs, we have seriously dropped points by drawing too many games. And the RVP last minute goal is a killer.

Defeat tomorrow its 9 points. Over.

I guess if you have that much belief in United I can understand that you might think the title is over. But they will lose games, they do every year. And if one of those games is the derby (where we won by 5 goals last season) we only have to make up another 3 points.

Its not about having that much belief in them - its about being realistic. They have beaten big clubs away from home. We haven't even beaten them at home (Utd and Arsenal) and drawn with Chelsea/Liverpool away.

Utd have shown even when playing poorly this season they are still outscoring the opposition and have scored 10 goals more than us away from home. We need to rely on them losing particularly against Chelsea, Liverpool and us at home (or a couple of those). Or Arsenal/Spurs away.

I can't see them losing many more games if any at home when Vidic is back fully fit. If we drop any more points before we go into the new year period we simply wont recover and makes all these possibilities less likely.
Hang on, they lost at Norwich and Everton and at home to SPurs.

Winning the big aways (us, chelsea, liverpool) means nothing if you then go on to lose to Norwich. They can lose any game this season. That is why we will always be in with a shout.

The natural reaction is "did you give up that easy last season?" However, there are a lot of "ifs", "buts" and hypotheticals in your post. The bottom line is we don't know the answers. It certainly puts them in the box seat, but lets be honest, while you may not expect the to slip at home to Sunderland or Newcastle, I certainly expected them to get more than 0 points against Norwich.

That's the beauty of football.

As I've already posted, they have defensive issues and given the length and nature of his lay off, Vidic will not solve that on his own immediately. In my opinion, they still need to sign a defender of higher quality than someone who can just fill in.

My point was never it is impossible for them to lose any game literally. It is my opinion based on them not likely losing any more games against poor sides especially with Vidic coming back. In other words, I can only see them dropping points against the bigger clubs because (a) they have the pyschological advantage over us by beating us this season (last season is over) and (b) wont play any poorer defensively than they have.

And if it becomes 9 points by xmas - I dont see (a) them dropping that many points in comparison to us or Chelsea and (b) dont necessarily see us clawing that many points back ourselves based on us winning

-- Fri Dec 14, 2012 5:34 pm --

Of course it is hypothetical but its my opinion. Last season is over. We need to move on. That is the point. 9 times out of 10 (based on the position they were in last year - they win the league). We just got a really lucky break when they dropped points at wigan and at home to everton.

He should have another season at least. I think that if we are in a similar situation next season in terms of the champions league then yes, maybe questions need to be asked. But on all other fronts? No.

Don't forget City's incredibly lucky break of winning 6 on the spin at the end too. Like you say though, last season is over; we need to move on.

I really don't want Bob sacked, but I feel the Xmas period is crucial, we've got to win the home games and at least one away game, because as much as I hate to say it, the filth are on a roll and don't seem like dropping points at the min, and if we go more the six points adrift over this period then it may be too much to claw back. It really puts into perspective how much the squad needed quality additions ( like Bob wanted ), rather than the gung-ho last minute reduced item stock ( apart from Maicon ), we ended up with. So if It's blame time come the end of the season, then it should fall on everybody's shoulders and not just the gaffers.

Good post. There is a reason that Mancini is paid the big bucks and not us.

Some might say playing "Devils Advocate" that Mancini has under performed, as we are now out of every competition we entered and only realistically have the FA Cup now to play for, and that hasn't even started yet. I personally think he is under tremendous pressure, lose at Newcastle which isn't a disgrace by any means and suddenly a 6 point gap becomes a 9 point gap. Just food for thought!!

Are we out of the league now?

8 points behind with 6 matches to go, short memories.

I was only playing "Devils Advocate" obviously we are not out of the league until it's mathematically impossible. However we need to improve our form dramatically only 12 points from the last 7 games is hardly Championship winning form, plus we still have Arsenal, Spuds, and the Rags to play away from home. No better time for things to improve than the present, 3 points tomorrow will be very welcome thats for sure.

The star was saying yesterday that Mancini as 3 games to save his job. When a silly paper like the star says that you know it isnt true.Even if we dont win anything this season im confident Mancini wont be sacked.
