Why The Hell Would Anyone Want Mancini Sacked ?

The biggest problem for Mancini isn't just that he isn't getting the job done in Europe. The biggest problem for him is that this is a pattern for him, and the last time he was replaced was after winning a third consecutive title. He was sacked after winning three titles on the trot, and then his successor took his foundation and won the treble. If you look to the past to make decisions on the future (which sane humans tend to do), you see the same pattern playing out.

Mancini will hopefully deny Fergiscum another title then bow out gracefully with a new job lined up. He will go down as a City Legend with Joe Mercer as company, and city can make the changes necessary for European success.

Win the double then head off to AC Milan with Mario on his coat-tails would be the perfect scenario.

All this eulogising of Ferguson is wrong.

He's a good manager who for 25 years has been in charge of the richest club in the world bar none.

In that time he has won two champions leagues, both of which were extremely fortuitous.

In the same period Milan have won 5, Barca 4 and so on. In other words hardly dominating Europe.

Richest in terms of annual revenues yes. Rich in terms of the board's preparedness to spend silly money, no absolutely not.

The Galactico signings - Eto'o, Ibra, Kaka, Zidane etc etc - have never gone to United. He's had to work with Danny fucking Welbeck for god's sake. Can you imagine Real or Barca signing Danny fucking Welbeck. Good grief.

So I take your point, but he has done pretty damned well overall and since the fall from grace of Arsene Wenger over the past 7 or 8 years, is probably regarded as the best Premier League manager ever.

And can people remind me how many CL titles Arsenal have (considering they've been in CL for 16 years on the trot). Unless you win the pot IT MEANS NOTHING, I swear some would rather us reach the semis of CL than win the league!!!!!

I think you'll find Ferdinand's and Rooney's inflation adjusted prices were in excess of 45 million at current prices. And there are loads more where those came from. To quote Harry, Fergie blew all domestic competition out of the water. Until the Glazers, Chelsea and then City came along.

Understood and agreed. My comments were in relation to his "relatively" poor performance in Europe. His spending compared to the top European clubs is not so enormous, far from it.

I am absolutely amazed at how City fans could belittle our first top division win in 44 years, all in the name of discreditting our manager!

*shakes head in disbelief and wonders what has taken over the City supporter*

For me it's enough that the entire media wants him sacked. Does no-one else find it odd that the same hacks were all so upset when Hughes got sacked when he was failing so badly. To me it proves Mancini's feared and that's good enough for me.

He's a (very well paid) hired employee of the club we love, lets not get too over the top. When his time at the club is eventually up, he'll move on quite easily, and so will all of us fans.

For me, I in no way want to belittle what we did. I may not see it happen again, and i'll never forget it. Its not about discrediting the manager, its about having an open mind if another manager, a better manager, becomes available to hire. No need for the drama

Despite all the interesting debate, who the fuck are we supposed to replace him with:

A) Mourinho - by common consent a great manager but also a graceless twunt who would grate with many supporters' values (and probably the owners too), or
B) Guardiola - by common consent a fantastic achiever with Barca, and a much more acceptable human being, but with no experience elsewhere?

Answer either of these and half the forum will disagree. Let's give Mancini until the end of the season at the very least, please.
