As someone mentioned there are a lot of question marks about Pep, what guarantees does he bring? Look at Tito Villanova who has stepped into Pep's role with the same team: http://www.skysports.com/football/leagu ... 26,00.html - is it a case of being bred in the system or pure managerial talent? I would like to see Pep take on a project like AC Milan first. One bad season last year and Pep cracked under the stress, quit his job, and has taken a year off altogether. Imagine what the stress of the Premier League could do to him.
Honestly, I think what Klopp has done with Dortmund is more impressive than what Pep has done with Barcelona. Klopp had much less to work with and no real history with Dortmund before going there, so had to create much of this brilliant setup from scratch.
I've always said Mourinho would be the only 100% guaranteed upgrade over Mancini, but that doesn't mean he's the right appointment. Going off the newspaper reports from the other day, Soriano and Txiki have already ruled him out like they did at Barca because of his bad attitude and all the baggage he brings. Our owners want a squeaky clean image and he doesn't bring that. I also believe they want youth development to be a big part of City which is something Pep (or Klopp but I don't think he would leave Dortmund easily) are more likely to embrace, Mourinho prefers hardened veterans or youngish players already proven elsewhere (like Di Maria).
So the grass isn't always greener... I have major gripes and doubts about Mancini - such as believing he isn't getting the best out of his players at all - but don't feel it'd be wise to rush him out of the door.
