But we have failed miserably in the champions league which was no-one else's fault except Bobby's tactical failings.

Bollocks IMO.

Man Utd is a better team because they have a better manager, not because they have better individual players. That alone proves that you should look around for another manager.

Yes, Mancini won three thropies and I am aware that Man City fans treat him as a hero for that. However, I think that those people are still missing the big picture. Man City has invested over last 5 years more than any other club in England, you have currently the best squad in England, you had it also last year. You should be playing CL semi finals or quarter finals at least because the squad definitely has the potential. As regards Premier League, you were for me last year favourite No 1 and for many other neutral followers.

You need to stop drawing comparisons to a Man City before sheikh Mansour, you had an average team back then and were clearly not able to compete with the top teams. Now you have de facto unlimited funds and best players. Considering all this, those three thropies were nothing extraordinary given the circumstances, even if you fans think that it's a huge achievement. You have to aim for more, especially in CL, and you shouldn't wait another 5 years to achieve it. I personally think that this team could be one of the best with the right manager...

IMO Mancini is a good manager, but you need better than good.

Interesting post, dreamer. I hate to say it but I agree about u*d's manager and you are right to put Mancini's achievements into financial perspective. However this doesn't prove we must discard him.

Bacon isn't the best yardstick because (choke) he has been truly exceptional, arguably a one-off. That calibre of manager just doesn't grow on trees. Mourinho and Pep may be excellent in parts but one is seriously flawed and the other not fully proven in our situation. They both divide opinion on here. If we do change manager let's not kid ourselves: it will be another gamble.

Despite the financial revolution some things don't change. We've been here so many times.

True what you say, but do you not think that we could well be heading towards the same model as Barca took in 2008.

To coin a phrase from someone who really should post on here more often, Mancini has a "complex" in Europe. He hasn't come close to delivering on the European stage for any of the clubs he's managed, let alone City. That's the definition of a failure, when you are given countless chances to do something and you consistently fall well short of expectations.

I think Bayern link is leverage personally.

Now that is nailed on. Pep to Germany as about as likely as Mourinho to Paris. Leverage, and very transparent leverage at that.

I've got to be convinced that its a proper option.

Country with a tongue not spoken in Spain. Few Spanish players in league and team. A league thats on the up but 3rd behind La Liga and Premier League in both talent and money.

Him and Mourinho are both coming here. I make United faves for Jose and us for Pep. I predicted RDM going from Chelsea and I think the premature nature of sacking has hindered them. Nothings set obviously and its conjecture but common sense is needed to draw a proper opinion and prediction.

After Sunday its the most pressure he has been under since his tenure started.

You only replace a manager if its obvious to all and sundry you cannot obtain the level you have to get to under him.

We will learn a bit more about RM and the team on Saturday.

Agree, I said as much earlier in this thread I believe. For my money, Mourinho and Pep will be in charge of the two Manchester clubs next season ... it's anyone's guess as to who takes who though. I think it's just as feasible that we end up with Mourinho whilst Pep goes to United.

Agree with that the January window is the first time when Soriano/Txiki can show what they think really.

If they help Mancini with some siginings it will be clear they want him to win the league and continue probably but that doesnt mean he stays if he doesnt win the league.

If there are no new player coming in as we hear noises like "we have to sell before we buy" well dont know who we can sell without taking huge losses on those players to buy expensive ones especially in January when everybody is more expensive.

f they let Mancini rot and they say him "well, no money, no new players, you should be able to win the league with the squad you have" then it is really can only finish one way after May.

Also if there will be new signings they have to make sure those players wont be deadwood even if a new manager comes in next summer. (Like Adebayor, RSC etc for Mancini after Hughes).

to be honest i am actually beginning to wonder if he has taken us as far as he can.

some of the decisions have baffled me completely, whilst not working.

anyway i'm still backing him at games and the team and just going with the flow.

i just hope he turns it around.
