I'm not sure how mentally strong they are as a group. Looking at Klopp over the last month or so I'd suggest not as strong as us. We came out of the Spurs defeat looking utterly determined not to let the league drop. I suspect they'd be the same but it's phycologically different to chase and it must be so fucking demoralising for them to keep seeing us win.
Still, overall, I want them to lose narrowly tonight. Maybe a nice 3-1 or whatever which keep their hope alive. To be honest I'm not greatly bothered if they win it as long as we win the treble.
Barca 1 nil up first few minutes, red card for scousers early doors, spend the whole game working their socks off to contain Barca and concede a demoralising second late on. Injury to Salah too.I think a 2 or 3-1 defeat is ideal, they still lose, but the away goal keeps them in it.
Yes but Salah will not be able to live freely in the land of offside anymoreHmmm we are down on CL VAR this season & much as I'd like to, I can't see anything changing with decisions next season.
We will get pens like the Burnley one & probably the Wolves goal wouldn't have counted but just think how many handballs/pens will be awarded against us.
It doesn't matter what the result is as Barca can overturn any deficit with Messi in their team and Klopp will not be able to rest players in the 2nd leg. Perhaps if they have a 2 goal lead tonight he will make changes to his midfield three to their detriment on Saturday night, but he realistically has to play their first choice 11 in the next 4 games and try and get to the final and win their remaining league games.
The league has gone back and forth. Us playing first and winning, them playing first and winning, us with games in hand etc. I think in the past few games they have become too focussed on our results and trying to put us off and whilst that was fine against Huddersfield who are piss poor, they will have two days without a game before a tough trip to St James. The fact it is a late Saturday game on a bank holiday weekend will only make it harder and they then have only two days off before another game with Barca.
I had thought it would be a welcome distraction but in fact it is just more pressure in a different competition and mentally and physically it is tough. They rested players away at Belgrade and lost. At Wolves in the cup and at home to Chelsea in the league cup. They lost. Klopp knows he can't really make changes for any of the 4 games they have left.
Wolves here (again!). If you win the league this year due to us beating Liverpool at anfield on May 12th do you think Pep will donate us Aguero for a season as a gesture of thanks? Just a thought.....

Was thinking more about the scousers losing points.Hmmm we are down on CL VAR this season & much as I'd like to, I can't see anything changing with decisions next season.

Yeah I'd assumed that but it'll probably be balanced out by us getting shafted a bit more. Was thinking more about the scousers losing points.
Ha, true.Yeah I'd assumed that but it'll probably be balanced out by us getting shafted a bit more.
What’s the relevance of this to the thread?
Yes, I agree that LFC will definitely go full strength for all the games, but I'm hoping they might be a bit off pace mentally and physically against Newcastle if they are still in the Barca tie.
Since about January I have felt that the Champions League would lose us the league, or the other way round, and that we would win 3 trophies. It's looking good for that prediction at the moment.
An away goal keeps them in the tie, a 2-0 defeat probably doesn't, as its unlikely Barca won't score in liverpool.Barca 1 nil up first few minutes, red card for scousers early doors, spend the whole game working their socks off to contain Barca and concede a demoralising second late on. We just need to win our last two games regardless of any of Liverpool’s results in the two competitions they’re still in.The discussion was about what Liverpool result tonight was best for City to win the league.
I think the best result for us is a decent Barca win that doesn't kill the tie. Something like a 2-0 or a 3-1. At that point there's the demoralising effect of knowing you're 90% out of the tournament, but that 10% chance means you have to throw everything at the second leg.The discussion was about what Liverpool result tonight was best for City to win the league.
