Tbf, we haven't been chasing them, they've be chasing us since the beginning of March.Not at all Dave. You should know me by now. Pint pot always half empty, mate. ;-)
Week after Week while we’ve been chasing Liverpool, one game after another playing after them(thanks to the PL and the TV companies), Liverpool and the footballing media in general have had us down as bottlers. Going to lose. Going to draw. Going to slip up. Going to give Liverpool that chance to stay in-front of us. Blah, blah, f***ing blah! Struggling to think of anyone apart from City fans who gave us a chance of winning all those games and staying in-front of Liverpool. Now as we reach the end game, there’s still a general conclusion that we will still slip up in 1 of our 2 remaining games, with Leicester being the most likely game. But you are correct. As those games where we would and should have slipped up have come and gone, those confident and loud noises have turned into desperate and quiet noises. The bluster has now become a bluff. But make no mistake about it, the Footballing media in this country is still running with the City will slip up scenario, and supporting Liverpool, which is being lapped up by every Liverpool fan across the interweb and on social media. When in reality the Footballing Media in this country should be lording City for the strength, character, resolve, determination, etc we have shown in the race with Liverpool to *retain our title*.
Now this is paranoia. When, and if we win the title, the footballing media in this country will choke on their own bile, and in the process focus on how Liverpool lost the title race, rather than how City won the title race. Mark my words,
We've always been a point in front of them since then.

Even now the media reaction to the 2014 title annoys me. Liverpool should have won, it was all because of gerrard’s Slip blah, blah, blah. The facts paint a very different picture. We scored more goals, they let in over FIFTY, they weren’t in the CL, they were something like the 5th or 6th favourites going into the season, they were never in control of the title race until near the end when Kompany miskicked a clearance to let them score late in the season, a clear punched clearance in that same game was missed by the ref.Not at all Dave. I have no doubt that both clubs have much improved teams since 2014, but I also have no doubt that we are still better than them making them clearly the second best side in the country. The league should show that and the reasons we are not a good 10 points clear are the dubious decisions and luck that has ran in their favour, we are ahead now going into the last 2 days INSPITE of that.

"When people talk about why we have not won it for 29 years, the answer is simple - it is because there have always been better teams. This year, hopefully, it will be different."
In other words he think they are better than us. We are talking about the best team we have ever had and possibly the EPL has ever seen. He could possibly mean city are better but “hopefully” Liverpool will still win I suppose. Either way it shows elements of self entitlement.

No he hasn't he has just talked painly, liverpool haven't won the title for 29 years because there has been better teams, but he hopes that that will change, fact is if they win the league they are gonna be remembered as the best team this season as they will be champions, if they don't his first statement automatically acknowledges that he will see us as the best team.
Arsenal had several teams finish 2nd that were footballing and ability wise better than the rags, but no one remembers them, if we finish 2nd even though we are the best footbball team, that won't matter to the wider world and that is all barnes is saying.
