They're not a real Premier League club so they don't have the fanbase to match.

they are there on merit, you sound very arrogant
They are there because Dave Whelan's money got them there but Dave Whelan cannot buy fans.

Blackburn, Wolves, Fulham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Reading, Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, MK Dons, Hull City, Leeds United, Hartlepool United........

all clubs who are where they are because of someone else's money. Wigan Athletic are in the Premier League on merit. I can't think of one footballer in the four divisions who plays purely for his love of the game. Everyone is everywhere because of money. It's just that some have more than others.

I think Wigan is a bit like Bradford. Its more bothered about rugby league. It wasnt that long ago Wigan were a non league team. You after admire Dave Whelan for putting a lot of money into Wigan and ,staying in the premier league.

I bet season tickets at lower league Clubs are more expensive than ones at Wigan. They can hardly give them away and opposition fans get a huge number to try and fill empty seats at the DW. Part of the problem is that they rose through the leagues two quickly to create a Grandad, Dad and Lad-esque fanbase like every other Club has but it's also a Rugby town. Their team have always been successful.

I grew up in Manchester and worked with people from a little further afield. I think I finally met one genuine Wigan Athletic fan about 18 months ago and that was in London.

Is there any logic in this list? It rather looks as though you're attempting to be outraged without having a point.

It wasn't so long ago that they were a non league club and i bet there are as many plastic rags and scousers in the town so 20000 isn't a bad turnout considering. They do alright and are in the PL on merit having said that is there a bigger tw*t of a chairman than Dave Whelan?.

Clubs with smaller attendances from small towns like Burnley have sold out Wembley allocations before now and the reason why is because Burnley are a historical upper league table club and have a larger nationwide fanbase. I make no secret of the fact that I'd sooner have the Leeds, the Sheff Wednesdays and Sheff Uniteds, the Forests, the Burnleys, the Blackpools, in the Premier League ahead of small clubs who've had a steroid injection from rich owners like Wigan and Fulham. The fact that Wigan can't sell out their allocation when non-Premier League clubs from small towns manage it, proves my point.

There's no logic in you saying Wigan aren't a Premier League club. Simply, they are. My list of clubs points out that one way or another, they are all in the position they are because of someone else's money. I'm certainly not outraged, just sat in my grundies with a brew.

Wigan are a small club in a rugby town and are punching well above their weight. Fair play to them.

They're punching above their weight because of Dave Whelan's cash injection which took them from being a non-league club for most of their history, then in the fourth flight, to the Premier League. I find it hard to believe they'd have managed that transformation without Dave Whelan's cash injection. Ditto Fulham and Al Fayed - although they'd at least been a top flight club very briefly in their history once before. I'd much rather have the non-steroid clubs.

the only reason we are where we are is because of money. They deserve to be where they are.

Leeds had a steroid injection, look where it got them. None of the teams you have mentioned have played well enough to be in the league, and most of those teams are the richest ones in there leagues. You havent proved anything. Just because a team has a smaller fanbase doesnt mean they dont deserve to be in the league.

Wigan over the next 50 years might end up winning everything and the fanbase could become huge, we could get relegated and our fanbase gets a lot smaller, should we not be in the league ??
