Wigans fan base is pathetic

Why is 20,000 sold tickets, from a small town full of eggchasers, pathetic?

Having anything other than the final at Wembley is the only pathetic part.

what a ridculous thread. Wigan are a small town, they dont have a massive fanbase like us, with the whole of manchester to get fans from.

never mind the fact that there are loads of people in wigan who ignore them and choose to support us or united.

20,000 is a fantastic crowd. this thread smacks of arrogance, sorry op :)

It's very difficult for other North West clubs to get major support, when you have ourselves, United, Liverpool and Everton who dominate the region. Even clubs like Bolton and Blackburn who have history, and have won things, don't get big support.

Wigan simply don't have a large fanbase. So what? It doesn't mean anything. It is certainly not a reason to disrespect a club and the supporters. I'd like to think we have a bit more class than the fans of United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs fans who disrespect other clubs, and fans, for having smaller fan bases than the clubs they support.

I cannot accept the argument that Wigan haven't sold out because they are a rugby town. I’d say Hull is more of a rugby town than Wigan. Hull has two professional RL clubs and when added together the average attendances are higher than Wigan Warriors’ and Leigh Centurions average. Plus the population in Hull is smaller than that in Wigan. However, I would put my mortgage on Hull City selling out their allocation, if they were in the same position.

What intrigues me is if they get through and we beat Chelsea, what allocation we'll both get for the final. Bollocks to a neutral zone, I'm sure City could sell 50,000 at least. That leaves 20,000 for Wigan and 10,000 for the FA family (sponsors).

Imagine if it had been a Wigan V Blackburn semi-final. :-0
More neutrals than actual supporters ;)

Fair play to those who are going, they are a small town, club etc and the Semi's really shouldn't be held at Wembley, just the FA trying to pay its bills for the stadium.
