It seems you guys just can't help nog sticking your head in the ground.
My defense if Bony is a non defense. He is irrelevant. Those who wee supposed to win us a game against the worst team in football were crap. And that's why we failed. We should have beaten Norwich with 9 men. We've beaten better teams on a red card before. Bony is irrelevant.
A big lump who can't hack it at this level. Everyone knows that. That's why he is a backup and not a starter.
The sure fire WzC players were wank. That should be the focus, not some irrelevant player who lasted 55 minutes.
None of the players who started are irrelevant. What kind of nonsense is that?
Bony's inclusion forced us to play a particular way, there are things that are expected of him as a minimum in order to allow us to be effective playing that way, in that system. Aguero fulfilled his duties, Bony met none.
The key players weren't great, but you're missing the point. Our problem was creating chances, Bony is a large part of that. Aguero can create chances on his own, Bony can't, he doesn't have the same technical qualities, that's a given.
What Bony needs to do is hold the centre half off and demand the ball to feet, bring others into play or play a one two. He didn't do this. The few times he actually tired he failed. His other duty is to be in the right areas to receive the ball from a cross, maybe to occasionally work the channels, stretch the back four. Be a nuisance. A bit of fucking graft.
We had the possession, our wide players were shite, and they deserve criticism for their failings also. But Bony wasn't even in the area to receive the ball from a wide area at times, he didn't even make the effort to join a break on at least one occasion.
He was fucking woeful.
For you to overlook that simply because you don't consider him integral to the side is the fucking inverse of the apparent scapegoating you seem critical of others for doing: placing all the criticism on the key players, even when they play alright, and overlooking the enormous failures of other players in the side because they don't meet your criteria of relevancy. It's bonkers rationale.
You realise this is a team sport right? You can rely on your key players to bail you out at times, but the others aren't peripheral, irrelevant - everyone has a key role in the success and failure of the system we set up each week.
And Bony's failings were by far the most glaring today, simple as that. I'd say shortly followed by Navas and Sagna. But this is the fucking Bony thread after all, might want to remember that.
