Wilfried Bony 2015/2016 Performances

Today he failed us. Let's discuss that. Not fake discussing some backup player who lasted 50 minutes but didn't do much.

For what it is worth, we got worse after he left the field. Not a single shot on target. Had Aguero scored his chance against Ruddy, it would have been a Bony assist on the nod down.

For someone who apparently was 'Standing still' turns out he created just as many chances as Silva, who's job it was to create chances. But i know "he is injured". Wonder why no one is complaining on why he gets to play 'injured'. When Sterling and Nacho are on the bench.

By the way we got more crosses in the box once we had 2 wingers on the field. Perhaps Bony could have done something if he had Sterling and Navas from the beginning as opposed to Silva taking up space on the left.

Fuck off mate. Never read so much shite in my life.

Aguero was singlehandedly dragging us up the pitch at times, often when he looked up Bony was nowhere to been seen plodding into the opposition's half. Aguero wasn't great but he was still stretching Norwich, drawing players in, forced the only two saves Ruddy had to make.

David was poor but he still had an influence on the game. If you think Bony created as many chances as David then you're fucking nuts.

Bony was a complete passenger, gave the ball away routinely, was static, didn't create space for himself or others, wasn't particularly effective at holding the ball up, and was contually bypassed as a result.

He plodded around for an hour until he was withdrawn. There were times where we hit Norwich on the break, and Aguero was bursting up the pitch, while Bony just vaguely plodded forwards miles behind, making no effort to get involved.

He was fucking awful. And the apparent lack of effort is what really grates in particular.

For all your nonsense about having little to no expectations of him because he's back up, this is a £30m player who was supposed to be an alternative to Aguero, to partner him when need be, to give us another option. Your rationale is fucking bonkers.

And truth be told, he's come up short massively. To the extent where an 18 year old kid is having twice the impact Bony is with a fraction of his minutes.

And this kid has earned his right to be ahead of Bony in the pecking order now, but is being denied that right because our manager is a fucking clown and feels he has to prioritise the £30m senior plodder.

Bony has been a disaster of a signing, and that's on him. Txiki has to look at himself for buying a player that was never suited to us also, and for Manuel for failing to utilise him correctly/having little to no gameplan as to how to get the best out of him if he is to use him.

And what's more, we did improve once he went off. We had more possession since we were giving it away less, and David had more freedom to play centrally. We limited the amount of times we were caught high up the pitch with numbers forward, because we were giving it away less cheaply, and that allowed us to apply more sustained pressure on Norwich. We still struggled to break Norwich down but at least we weren't having to carry a fucking passenger up front, effectively playing with ten men, and denying us dominance in possession.

Bony would've actually been a better player to bring on had we been at that stage with him on the bench, as we could've tried to utilise his strength to give us a presence in the box. That said, he's one of the worst for getting across his man at the near post, and reading a situation to get in the right position to anticipate and receive a cross, so he'd probably have been useless anyway. God knows he was at that stage having started because he's a fat bastard with no legs and was completely spent after an hour.

But saying all that, I don't think the game would've been goalless at that stage had we started Sterling left and given David freedom in the middle anyway, or even just paired Kelechi up top with Aguero. We'll never know though of course.

If you want to try and defend Bony, by all means, try your best, you'll be scraping the barrel but knock yourself out. Don't start your defence with serious revisionism of what actually happened in the fucking game though and the performances and influences of other players as a deflection however, doesn't wash, at all.

Apologies for repeating myself as I made this point earlier in the thread. The difference between Aguero and SIlva and Bony today is quite simple. Aguero and SIlva were really poor but it wasn't due to lack of effort, if anything Sergio was trying too hard IMO. Bony completely hid today IMO, he didn't want the ball and he wandered (aimlessly) around in areas where he knew he wouldn't have to get involved. He is a striker, we played about 25 minutes camped around their box yet he hardly touched the ball. One reason for that, he didn't want the fucking ball. Doesn't matter whether he is back up or not, there is no excuse for going on the pitch and just deliberately disappearing. I don't think anyone could accuse any other player on our team of not trying today, poor decisions and poor play, yes, completely shitting out of the game, no. That's why Bony's thread is at the top of the page IMO, because he's a shithouse who has completely bottled it in a City shirt.
I counted on the game thread 4 separate times Bony showed for the ball and Silva 3 times and Aguero once made conscious and dumb desicions to ignore him and try a harder pass. 3 of the 4 times we lost the ball.

Was Bony slow, and sluggish? Yes. Was he often ignored even when he showed for the ball? Yes. Why did we not win today? Because Silva was gash, and Aguero was well 'trying too hard'.

But Bony's laziness is akin to Navas's hitting the first defender on half his croses. An irrelevant overanalysis when the superstars actually were gash.

I expected more of him and maybe we have got that if he put in the effort. Has to be sold in the summer.
But how much do we get from his sale?? And we still owe swansea fucking 8 mill. Txiki must have been drunk when closing the deal.

Excellent analysis, bang on the money

He was ignored at times because the other players had lost confidence in his ability to hold onto the ball and pick out the right pass. Given there'd been several times he did receive it and slowed down the whole build up and was crowded out, or just aimlessly gave the ball away.

That's a damning indictment on him, not them. Even his fucking teammates don't trust him.

If you think a £30m player on £100k a week not putting in the minimum graft expected is an "irrelevant over-analysis" then you're beyond the fucking pale as far as I'm concerned.

It seems you guys just can't help nog sticking your head in the ground.

My defense if Bony is a non defense. He is irrelevant. Those who wee supposed to win us a game against the worst team in football were crap. And that's why we failed. We should have beaten Norwich with 9 men. We've beaten better teams on a red card before. Bony is irrelevant.

A big lump who can't hack it at this level. Everyone knows that. That's why he is a backup and not a starter.

The sure fire WzC players were wank. That should be the focus, not some irrelevant player who lasted 55 minutes.

Who's "we".
Tied

Ok. We can't beat Norwich with 4 World class players on the field and we ate worried about Bony??? Talk about missed placed priorities.

It's baffling the way we chose to play him. Personally I thought it was a decent enough idea to start him today against Norwich as I figured they'd park the bus, we'd sling in crosses to him and Kun would pick up any pieces with the extra space he'd get from them having to worry about Bony in the air (the classic Michael Owen scoring headers because everyone is marking Crouch England strategy :P ).

But instead we chose to play him, but to just use him like we would Kelechi, when Kelechi is just much better at doing that role of coming short and playing passes. It makes no sense.
