Very underwhelmed by this potential signing.

A decent player for sure. But strategically this signing appears terrible. A lot of money, in January and looks panicky.

Alvaro Negredo or Bony? The beast every time for me.

Diego Costa was signed unopposed by Chelsea for 25 mill. He may have chosen London but did we miss a trick not even trying?

Seriously for 30 million we could do a hell of a lot better and for a "quick fix" there's plenty of cheaper options.

Costa was 32M and we don't sign players of his profile (horrible little c@nts).

And who's better for 30M

Not in the slightest bit excited about this, missing a month every season also we seem to be buying from the 2nd tier of world football these days.

2nd tier of world football? Who is in this top tier? Costa, Lewandoski, Sanchez? All are 26.
Since 2008 Bony has an almost identical record to Lewandoski, better than Costa and much better than Sanchez. He wasn't playing in a two team league (for Barcelona or Dortmund) either!
As someone who got quite excited about signing Buster Phillips I'll take Bony, if he's on offer.
If Lewandoski moved to the premier league he'd make Soldado look like an astute signing

Enlightenment comes from within, you're basically in a very dark place

In other words, if you have to ask then there's no hope skippy!!!!!

Bit of a strange reply...

Looks like no one's planning to enlighten you, St. Ives. From the bits I've read, the main thoughts seem to be that he's a late replacement for Negredo, he's better than Dzeko (and will ultimately replace him), and that 25-30 million isn't too much for a proven Prem goalscorer.

FWIW my opinion is that despite quite a bit of success in Europe and the Prem with one striker (mostly when we haven't had two fit, in-form strikers), Pellegrini is still planning to play 4-4-2 more often than not, in which case getting a third striker makes sense (assuming he's realized what a lot of us have - that Jovetic isn't a striker).

Thanks for the enlightenment CaliforniaBlue!

Put like that, and if Bony is considered a long-term solution, then perhaps makes more sense. I just saw it that if we are going to spend big bucks on a striker we really could do with one for the Arsenal and Chelsea games. I'm still not convinced he's good enough, but I guess we will see. The one thing for sure is that I trust Manuel's judgement.
People seem to think we are panic buying a striker for a few games, does anyone know how long his contract will run, around the 5 year mark I expect. Think long term and it looks like a good move. So much negativity :(
(Not you stives blue. Just tagged on the end of your post, don't know why)

You seem unable to grasp the fact that Negredo was deeply unhappy in Manchester, his family couldn't settle and he doesn't want to play for us any more. And that Valencia are contractually obliged to purchase him at the end of the season. Futile to even consider Negredo as an alternative. Time to move on from him.

It all hinges on Big Dave Watson

Hahahaha brilliant! Will be interesting though as he's already been on saying we aren't signing anyway!
Not true Mr RIchards. I said we would not be signing any of Reus, Pogba or Barkley (not in this or Any window).

Bony, I am well happy with :-)

Would rather have Bony than Costa. I think he'll suit us perfectly.

Sorry but not another Sinclair type signing .
I don't remember Sinclair banging in as many goals as Aguero this year, in an inferior side.
No, he's not Aguero, ( that's the point) but he's an upgrade on Dzeko, who doesn't have the physical presence to lead the line, and hold up the ball if needed as consistently as he should be doing.
