Will Covid change the world

I was watching tv earlier and the programme had obviously been filmed months if not years ago but when 2 of the characters hugged, for a split second I thought ooh they shouldn't be doing that!

I’m a millennial and I reckon growing up in the 70s in working class Britain was infinitely harder than the 90s and 00s.
As kids in 60's we would get lots of bread and jam and 1proper meal a day, sweets were a treat, anyone born in the late 70's on don't have a clue about hard times, the old folk oft today did it hard when they were young and providing for a family not to mention wars, they are mostly not rich and pampered in their old age

Economic hell possible. Maybe teach all to work less if you can and live more simply but doubt it.

Hence the contents of my post. Although I understand you wanting to shut me down as I disagree with you. Possibly explains why you think of yourself as a know-all

Wtf?

I’m more than happy to debate and I don’t think of myself as that at all.

I don’t want to derail a thread about COVID-19 and turn it into an argument about which generation had it better.

Make a thread and tag me in it and I’ll respond straight away, I’m on best behaviour currently and want to keep it that way by not getting personal and keeping to the thread topic.

Bread and JAM!?!!

As a kid in the 50's we still had rationing! I didn't see a fresh egg until I was 11, we would share 1 jam sandwich between me and my 9 siblings at christmas. anyone born in the late 60's on don't have a clue about hard times.

etc. etc.

I do wonder if people's attitudes to physical contact will change and maybe we will wash our hands more. I was watching a film last night where there was a scene where people where strangers were hugging and shaking the hands of the heroes. I recoiled in horror :)

It would be nice if we took a longer look at our relationship with nature. Particularly our approach to to land development. This is a good read. It's not too long.

Many people will now start working from home and if it’s proven they can do this successfully then why not continue in the future, I’m not talking whole hearted shut offices but Shirley it could be options for firms. Cuts down on travelling, pollution and traffic.
After the fire service strike in 2002 false alarms dropped dramatically as people became more self aware and dare I say responsible, this then continued after the strike finished as people got into habits.

It depends on the business and I think many businesses would do it if they thought it was best for them.

There is no law currently that says you can't.

The problem for me is 90% of my work could be done from home but 10% couldn't. So say the company binned off all the offices, how would we do the 10%?

If they keep the offices then there's no need for the home working.
