Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

I don't get why so many on here are giving Chris Rock a pass on this. He's a vile, spineless little dwarf of a man who uses his position now to get his own back on the big kids who bullied him at school. Talentless arsehole who actually thinks he's funny.

do you know him personally then ?

clearly talented and funny, hence he has been in many Hollywood roles and a successful comedian for so many years

After watching the uncensored version rather than what i saw on breakfast TV I am surprised at how Smith reacted, it has become quite common now for these events to become a little like roasts.

It was always going to blow up one day and nobody comes out of this looking good.

I would suggest that Smith could do with some help with his mental state.

He's cool with his wife cheating on him and sleeping with his son's friend. But make a joke about her? Crossing the line there.
She didnt cheat , they have a well public open marriage

On the Slap, good for will, you cannot joke about a women with alopicia that she is struggling with , everyone in hollywood knows about it , she has talked about it , little shit shouldnt have gone there

Wait so one poster says he’s talentless, and you say he’s talented, and because said poster doesn’t know him personally your opinion is more valid? Righto…. Unless of course you know him personally ?

What, because he slapped someone who insulted his wife?

It's not nice what Chris Rock said however Ricky Gervais has hosted The Golden Globes 5 times and each time he's completely ripped into actors(the majority of them were sat in the audience) and said worse thing about them than what Chris Rock said about Jada Pinkett Smith and not a single one of those actors felt the urge to go up on stage and slap Ricky Gervais. What makes Will Smith different?

I can't know what happened in his head obviously, a combination of all those things probably.

The trigger I'm talking about I do have experience of.At times it was instantaneous, others not, but the trigger feeling was the same. It just went BANG in my head, like I could hear it. Once it went off there was no turning back. Once the focus of that trigger was identified, I might look calm, take a deep breath, walk up to them and bang it was off.
With me there was sometimes a short period where I had told myself I was going to remain calm, not let anything provoke me, then I would just explode like a volcano. Smith may have felt the same but got annoyed (irrationally) by the way Rock was giggling as he approached.

Nope, I think someone that has had a successful career in stand up and Hollywood is talented by definition

It's like saying a player for Man City is not talented, it doesn't add up.

If your personally not a fan of his stuff then yeh that's fine to have that opinion.

He had enough composure to slap him like a girl rather than dig the **** out.

I don’t mind his films, but they won’t be everyone’s cup of tea hence why if someone says he’s bobbins (in their opinion) that’s fine by me.

Probably only the people closest to her really know and understand how the alopecia affects her life, but fair play to her she is out there and not hiding away.
I’m sure she didn’t go there expecting to be insulted by the little weasel Rock and the poor woman could quite easily have walked out.
Smith should have flattened the prick.

Tbf, if that’s the case then many (myself included) would say it was ‘karma’ and the bullies have no comeback.

Think Rock handled it very well, I’m sure once Smith has time to reflect, he’ll come to the conclusion he should have dealt with it differently, maybe that’s when the acting will begin and they’ll claim the whole thing was a rehearsed ‘sketch’.

Yes I get that one totally. He might have been going to take the mic and say something but that laugh just sent him over the edge. For me If it was not an instantaneous explosion I learnt to not act by thinking ahead, police, court, possible imprisonment, manslaughter, death. I learnt to trigger these thoughts almost as quickly as the thoughts of wanting to kill the object of my rage. It took a while and at times it doesn't work as well but so far so good.

It's just such an old school view that a man should be defending his wifes honour by assaulting another man who insults her. She has made her name in her own right and has a platform to speak out against Rock. Why does Will Smith have to take it upon himself to go and hit him in her name.

Again if it was a woman who said it would he go and slap her. Or if it was Peter Dinklage or someone. Seems to just be acceptable for a man to just hit another man of similar size because they're annoyed by something they've said.

What has he actually achieved with this? He hasn't hurt Rock physically, pulling his punch and hasn't destroyed him with words. It's just reflected poorly on Smith now and people aren't talking as much about the poor joke made.
