I have a memory longer than my years and blame them for the downfall of the British Empire. Although grateful for their assistance in the very early 1940's the price they set and that we paid was extremely high.
I'm not saying the Empire was great for all of the subjects living in it, but over the previous 80 years it had improved and there's nothing to say it wouldn't have continued improving.
On the other hand I truly value and appreciate their input into a football team just outside of our city borders.
But in answer to your question, I think they will survive but in a way similar to the UK now. There will be a new dominant force somewhere (probably Asia) but they'll still be there. Banging on about their 'istory. Bit like us British really. That's a depressing thought. Are we all dippers at heart?
