Can’t see us getting past a decent outfit when we have struggled against any decent sides
I will hope and pray, but I fear this is the end of the line.
I must have dreamed that we beat CL QF team Arsenal 3-0 this season then!!
That means we will beat Hamburg over 2 legs.
Are you for fcuking real?, you pick a decent result out of a season where we have under performed on the whole and use it to justify an argument ?
Try looking at our away form and Hamburg’s home form, and then you might have a reality check,
To progress we need to win away.

Well, Kompany was known as "big talent", but he wasnt good in Hamburg at all. He wasnt playing much and the fans of Hamburg were chearing a lot when City spent 10 Billion € for him.
I had expected that someone would buy him for ~5 Billion €...and that would be a fair deal.
De Jong was a very important player for Hamburg, however, he played only 10 games for Hamburg in first leg. When Hamburg received the 20(!) billion € bidding there was no other way to sell him, because Hamburg has played without de Jong well too.
Hamburg has enough money to refuse biddings(like 22 billions for van der Vaart from Valencia) for the top players(16th of most turnover in europe), but that bidding was so unreal, you have to sell for this amount of money. On the german forums fans of the Bundesliga were stunned and even now it comes to jokes like "This player would cost about 10 billion, if City doesnt call...".
Dont get me wrong. De Jong is a very good player but he isnt nearly 20 billion € worth. Maybe 10, but not 20...

I'm sure we will pay over the odds for a number of players before we get to where we want to be. Especially when these players play for clubs who do not need the money, of which Hamburg are one.
I'm very interested on your view of Kompany as he has been outstanding for us this season. I seem to remember at the time of his transfer to City, that Hamburg did not want him to play in the Olympics for Belgium whilst Kompany did. I believe he stayed in Beijing which upset Hamburg. Very strange that Hamburg did not want Kompany to play in the Olympics considering he was regarded as being 'Not very good' and 'Not playing much'.
