Joe from HH...are you indicating that you think Kompany and De Jong are rubbish, we overpaid for them or both?

Well, Kompany was known as "big talent", but he wasnt good in Hamburg at all. He wasnt playing much and the fans of Hamburg were chearing a lot when City spent 10 Billion € for him.
I had expected that someone would buy him for ~5 Billion €...and that would be a fair deal.

De Jong was a very important player for Hamburg, however, he played only 10 games for Hamburg in first leg. When Hamburg received the 20(!) billion € bidding there was no other way to sell him, because Hamburg has played without de Jong well too.

Hamburg has enough money to refuse biddings(like 22 billions for van der Vaart from Valencia) for the top players(16th of most turnover in europe), but that bidding was so unreal, you have to sell for this amount of money. On the german forums fans of the Bundesliga were stunned and even now it comes to jokes like "This player would cost about 10 billion, if City doesnt call...".
Dont get me wrong. De Jong is a very good player but he isnt nearly 20 billion € worth. Maybe 10, but not 20...

City paid 13m for de jong. And Kompany easily looks like a 15m player now and we only paid 6m. We got great deals on the 2 players.

Thats bullsh** dude. Just grabb your google out and look for "de Jong+City". I can give you about 200 sources...
Even the nationalcoach of Germany commented on this deal... guess it was the first time. ;)

Listen dude! Alot of sources make things up. Like we paid 9m for bridge but papers say 14m and Bellamy was 10m and papers say 14m etc. We paid 13.3m, The club comfirmed we paid nowhere near the 16-18m quoted.

Dont know about billions, but we paid 6million pounds for Kompany, which has been brilliant value for money. He's worth atleast double that here in England.

As far as I know we paid between 12 - 18 million for De Jong, and whilst it does seem abit overpriced, to our owners that is nothing. De Jong was absolutely amazing against Liverpool recently and has been steadily getting better and better as he gets used to the pace of the game here. Very Makelele-esque. Next season Im sure he will be one of our best performers.

Spot on, and De Jong was quality in the Villa home game I think he had 100% pass rate, and we seemed to fall apart a bit when he went off. Both been excellent for City, Maybe they suit the prem better than the Bundesliega(?).

Of course its nothing for some sheik.
Also i didnt say that de Jong is a bad player. But this amount of money is unreal for a player like de Jong. It seems there were a lot of problems on his position, to force City sending out such a bidding.
Additionally de Jong had a fixed fee of 2 million € in summer 2009. 18 millions for a half year? Wow...

I googled for 5 sec and found this. There are a lot of other sources, also for Kompany.

<a class="postlink" href="http://mancity.theoffside.com/team-news/nigel-de-jong-deal-done.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://mancity.theoffside.com/team-news ... -done.html</a>

Hamburg is 16th in turnover of european football clubs. They dont have to sell players. But this bidding was insane...

Baically the size of the fee mentiond was made up to try and take the piss out of city(happend alot in jan, since the new owners) It also says rumoured, which means its made up.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=de+jong+13.3m&meta=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... 3.3m&meta=</a>

Basically he verbally agreed a new contract with hamburg who wanted a 13m release clause so city had to pay that or he would have signed new contract ;). He's well worth it upto now imo, he does a great job for us.

HSV refused the first bid of 13 millions. They agreed to the third...
Man...the economics in Hamburg has to be pretty dumb if they refuse first bit about 13 millions and sell him afterwards for 13,3? ;)

Anyway, you can be sure that the people in Hamburg will welcome you with open arms... :)
