Btw i was at the wigan game and was disappointed that joe started, pants was great for us and deserved his place. Anybody would look shite with wes brown and o shea in front of them!!!

'Great for us' FFS

Pantilimon dropped numerous clangers which are weirdly ignored by many.

That same year his 'performance' was largely responsible for us being knocked out of the league cup 4-2 at home to Villa. Clanger followed by clanger followed by clanger.

The following season we needed Aguero to come off the bench to save us from a Pants inspired 2-0 half time deficit to Watford in the FA Cup. Howlers all over the shop. He was then shocking AGAIN as Wigan knocked us out at home a round or 2 later.

He wasn't good enough for City, WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH FKR SUNDERLAND and now isn't good enough for Watford.

But hey, he seemed like an affable fella on CityTV videos.

Have to look at this team.

One on hand, if Willy gets dropped his morale will be in the toilet just like Jovetic.
On the other hand, if he gets picked and costs us the final, the TEAM'S MORALE will be in the toilet and we could well miss 4th
On the third hand, if he gets picked and we win, everyone's morale is boosted and Joe might start to up his game.

I don't relish the manager's job.

Right well Joe has been one of our players of the season so I fail to see why he needs to up his game. And on your first point neither Pellegrini or Willy will be at the club next season so I fail to see the damage dropping him for the final would do.

Forget anybody's morale and forget it being a difficult management decision.

Willy is not a very good goalkeeper, we are in a cup final. Liverpool will have a fair amount of possession and shots on our goal.

Even the dumbest of dumbfucks picks Joe Hart for the final. Willy was superb against Arsenal in his last game at Wembley ....... Oh no sorry he was wank again like on Sunday.

If the charming man gets this wrong to add to his other fuck ups this season then we will lose on Sunday.

I really hope I'm wrong and if Willy plays a blinder and we win I will come on here and apologise to Willy and his three fans.

I don't forsee Willy being the sole 'win or lose factor' but I hope to fuck we drop him for the final. Ihate being this way too, because I want to show him loyalty. After all, he has served my club and I hate being a hypocrite....

...but ffs drop the bastard. My ticker can't take much more of him.

Hart plays PL and CL and is our nr. 1. Caballero plays the domestic cup competitions. So to me it's pretty clear to both goalkeepers and the entire squad who is playing on Sunday.

And if we fail to win we can continue bashing our manager and 'his mate'. We do already, so nothing changes.
If we win surely it isn't because of the manager who still picked the wrong goallie. Still nothing changes.

So why bother ... ??? We can only win by pure luck. Unless Pep makes a phone call when having his usuall morning shit and tells Pellegrini what to do. Obviously with the latter obeying as he is such a stubborn man that only wants to play his mates in the squad.

This is such BS!!! The reason Pellers is getting so much stick is because of our bad results and his stubbornness not to learn from these defeats. If we win midweek and against Liverpool Pellers will not receive any hate, why would he? The stick Pellers is receiving right now however is totally justified IMO.

My ten year old lad just reminded me how crap Willy was in the Charity Shield (apart from the 3 goals) and if you want a real measure of how bad he is look up the highlights of Melbourne City in the Gold Coast pre season friendly. Truly truly awful - and this is from me who still blames Margetson and not Pollock for our lowest ebb

To those saying Pellers and his Willy are gone in the summer so what affect will it have if he's dropped for the final, there's still almost a third of the season to go, a THIRD.

What you mean his performances might become rubbish!:) It's a major cup final and our only realistic chance of silverware so it shouldn't even be a debate you pick your best team.

It could have a detrimental effect on squad harmony.

Hart is clearly the best keeper at the club, there's no debating that. The issue here is that Caballero has been the domestic cup keeper since he arrived at City, playing every single domestic cup game, bar none. So, Pellegrini has established a clear precedent here, he's anointed Caballero as the keeper he plays in domestic cup matches. To drop him now for the Final would either indicate that Pellegrini wasn't a man of his word, which I don't see being the case, or else that he was seriously concerned about Caballero's ability. I just don't see Pellegrini changing his approach to domestic games and dropping Caballero. He was pretty terrible against Chelsea, and he's made several mistakes in previous games, but Pellegrini seems to trust him. He worked with him at Malaga previously, and now at City, so I don't think a poor display against Chelsea will have lead Pellegrini to some epiphany whereby he's doubting Caballero's ability to perform in the Cup Final.

As City fans we want Hart to play, he's the better keeper and, as such, he gives us the better chance of lifting the trophy. Pellegrini has his plans however and I don't see him being persuaded to replace the keeper for this game. Lets just hope Caballero doesn't have much to do against Liverpool, because if he does make a mistake that ends up costing us people will crucify Pellegrini for sticking with him.

On the one hand he won't get any better by not playing, on the other, he could get a lot worse. Looked nervous from the off on Sunday and if he does drop him for the final and we end up needing him later in the season that will not do a lot for his confidence.

The logical reason could be called consistency. Domestic cup keeper -> cup final -> Cab.
We all don't know about the agreement between Pellers and the 2 keepers, don't we? Do you?

The free kick leading to the 4th goal was his mistake, right.
But have a look again at Cahill's shot. It was not straight but deflected by Fernando. That goal could have been avoided by Zab or Fern. If you ever have been in a football goal you'd know Cab didn't have a chance from that distance.

I don't mind who will be our keeper at Wembley. But I do mind the massive Cab bashing that is going on here.
Really poor.

I expect Pellers won't support this bashing and Cab will play the final.
We should go to penalties and Cab should save the silverware for City. That's what I'd like.
So don't delete this thread...
Willy just does not inspire one with confidence which is essential for a goalkeeper really. He can pull off the odd super reaction save as in first half last Sunday but makes far too many basic errors on a consistent basis. Also while Joe can and does make mistakes he sometimes wins matches with a string of great saves something Willy is unlikely to do. Given that we are now underdogs for the League and not likely to get any further than the Semi Final of the CL Sunday represents our best chance of winning a trophy this season and with Joe in Goal our chances of victory are that much better. Common sense dictates he should start and that decision should be taken regardless of any real or supposed agreement that may exist. Finally, we will need more than Joe in goal to win on Sunday unless we turn up with a big performance we won't beat the Dippers.

If we need him later in the season we are in deep shit

Only way Willy doesn't play is if Pellegrini thinks he's rattled and will struggle again.

Barcelona share their goalkeeping duties. Some will say their keepers are better, but Willy was when he was playing in La Liga their top rated keeper

I think Hart is better than either of Barca's keepers, but Caballero is a distant fourth for me when it comes to ability, both Bravo and ter Stegen are better. Plus Barca's keeper doesn't really have to DO a great deal half the time! Victor Valdes was their regular number one for 11 seasons, making over 500 appearances, yet it took him 7 of those seasons to win an International cap, and he's only got 20 of those to date. So, number one keeper at possibly the best club side in the world, but regularly outside the top 3 Spanish keepers as far as their national side is concerned.
