Wolves (A) | Post Match Thread

If you’re having a bad day pop over to Redcafe for a laugh. Theyre actually having a serious debate that Bruno Fernandes is better than Kev.

Poor deluded fools. No wonder the club is sinking being pulled down by the weight of arrogance and delusion by their owners and fans.

Didn't quite clock that Kev was doing Haaland's celebration. That's hilarious.
Awesome pic, best bit was when Foden hugged him, looked at the city fans, pointed to kev with an expession on his face that could only mean 'you gotta love him'

Kevin gets better and better - a football god - confirmation (not that we needed it) that he's in the Colin and David conversation. It's a feature of Pep's coaching through his entire career that players around the 29/30 mark continue to improve.

A 5-1 win away from home on 3 days rest, playing the kind of tiki-taka football last seen by Barca in their prime, fused with attacking flair, hitting the post twice and missing 3-4 good opportunities to make it 9 or 10-1......

And your average score is 7?

Can't agree with that
Said at half-time it reminded me of the Lisbon game where the overall performance wasn't that controlled but we were just so clinical (or rather, Kevin was just so clinical) that it ended up not mattering much. Second half didn't really feel that much different. As a team we were good last night but not world class, there was only one world class fella out there and he made the difference - hence the 10/10.

Amazing how we're peaking at the right time. Necer seen that sort of timing towards the end of the season, usually March onwards and snowball effect but my god we're peaking for the last few games and the finals - We would have been unstoppable if it were for the RM semi.
if atletico madrid hadnt been aloud to get away with what they did to us we'd be in a better position than at present injury wise

Did someone make Kev angry before the game yesterday? Thank God the "over-priced Chelsea reject" is ours...!
I think Kev got angry after Wolves equalised.....and I think he might have got angry because he himself hadn't tracked back with Dendoncker, who had so much time and space for his shot. Some response from him if so.

What was a potential banana skin ended up being a one man masterclass to an extent. Wolves didn't sit back though, no bus parking for them and credit the fact they still tried to attack. We seemed very intent on 'intensity' last night, especially the first half. The ball was being zipped around, one touch, everywhere. Lovely to watch and a great win. Could have been 7 or 8. Two more to go.

I was watching thinking this is Kev's Yaya moment, as in that game away at Newcastle where through sheer force of personality Yaya dragged us to a 2-0 win. Kev not only equalled that, he surpassed it. City as a whole though last night were a team of real beauty, the movement of the front players created the space for Kev to do his thing. Wolves just could not cope with the constant interchanging of Phil, Bernardo and Raheem, this not only created space for Kev, but space also for Cancelo and Zincho. I thought it was possibly Zincho's best ever game for us, he was superb. Gundo and Rodri ticked things over beautifully which meant given our defensive injuries we were never really under pressure. Attack is the best form of defence and if the other team do not have the ball, we can cope without defenders.

Wolves are a team we have struggled against in recent seasons, but its no exaggeration that last night could easily have been double figures, we were that good. We were relentless in winning the ball back which in a way was encapsulated by Kev picking up a yellow for a cynical challenge, dark arts from the white knight.

Onto Kev, never in my lifetime did I imagine I would see a better player in sky blue than Bell, Yaya came close, Silva was a genius, Kev last night was Bell with bells on. Everything he did was magical, from his goals to his almost assists for Foden and he was ably assisted by willing forward thinking players who never stopped trying to create space and overloads. It is almost laughable that the rags had the temerity to think Bruno was in the same league as Kev, sorry, he aint on the same planet.

Treasure last night, it was peak Pep and a performance that will send shudders through the PL . Highest top division scorers in Europe and we adding Haaland.

Fuck me its great times to be a Blue.
Great post Rascal, great post mate.

I think its also worth a shout out to our merry band of away fans. I thought Leeds away was about the best it could get, then last night we nailed it again. Even Wolves fans above us clapping us out. Everyone is stepping up, singing their hearts out, not leaving it on the concourse. It's like the whole club from top to bottom is hell bent on willing this team to the title. As a collective, we've taken the hit on Madrid, taken the media delight at our downfall, dusted ourselves down, stuck two fingers up at the world and got on with it.

I've no doubt West Ham will be the same, if not better.

A shame we just couldn't get the posnan right last night, tricky with the long away "end", so we'll just have to save that for Slippy G at the Etihad.....yeah, I'm sure he'd love to be part of that...bless his little scouse heart.

Up the Blues.

If you watch the replay he deliberately twists his body so he can put the full weight of his back into Laporte's knees.
I'm not sure on that. I thought Foden actually nudged him and that caused the collision into Laporte. No malice for me, unfortunately just one of those things.

Genuinely surprised they are still echoing that, even after the turd of a season Fernandes' been having.

Just a case of a falling player protects himself first and foremost. What's he supposed to do, crash face first into Laporte's boots? It is, after all, Raul Jiminez we're talking about and after all he's gone through I think that's more than justifiable in the circumstances.
