Wolves (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Listened to the game on Radio Manchester and it sounded so one sided , but just wacxhed the match of the day highlights and didnt realise it was such a close game , they showedWolves four chances near the end when the game was over as a contest and their penalty appeal , they failed to show hardly any of our chances and completely glossed over the nailed on Grealish penalty
Imagine how much the Rags & Dippers are hurting at BBC Salford to show such a biased version of the game , they must wake up a couple of hours earlier everyday to hate us ........lovin' it

Jacks playing well but I still think he tends to turn and go back too much. He saves himself sometimes by drawing the foul. Probably why he didn't get the penalty, went down too easy.
He went down because he was tripped. The Wolves player didn't even try for the ball and it was a clear pen. Jesus Christ.

Wolves don't concede many, but they also rarely score ... so I was worried about a 0-0 ... but (arrogant as it may sound) as soon as we broke the deadlock it felt like we'd won.

I first heard Pep was supposed to have said he wasn't match fit. Then I heard about a knock, then others are saying he's got family grief & his head's not right?

Dunno which explanation's correct, if any of them are... )(
Phil and his partner are the more sensible members of his family. The family are nice people - could give Phil much less to worry about though.

yep totally, a stone wall pen that VAR missed ? even the mahrez goal should have stood with the so-called new rules letting the forward have a bigger margin ? the arsenal winner was a worst offside, but given, dare I even say zinchenko was also offside
He sure looked more offside than Mahrez. Nketiah also looked offside.

I was at the game and when I just watched MOTD I thought I must have imagined the Grealish potential penalty which never happened according to MOTD!

I was a bit worried in the first half that we'd have one of those games where we had all the possession against a team who make zero effort to attack, then score on the break. Once the first goal went it, that was it. It then became how many would we get.

The defence really bugs me mind, I really don't understand why we chop and change it every game. I wish we'd have a settled back 4 and if, say, the right back is injured put the replacement right back in rather than shifting everyone around. My preference is Stones and Dias in the middle, but Ake is absolutely flying at the minute. Lewis looks a class act at right back - how many great right backs have England got to choose from now!

Haaland did what Haaland does, lurks and doesn't look like he's doing much apart from scoring 3 goals to win the game within 14 minutes. I genuinely think he will become the greatest striker in the history of football. He's utterly, utterly lethal. I find it astonishing in some ways because he didn't have many touches yet turned the game on it's head. How can a player have so little 'contribution' in terms of the game yet be the best player?! :)

Some of Mahrez's touches were absolutely out of this world. The way he takes a ball down with the outside of his left foot is something we take for granted, but when he is in form he's unplayable.

As for Wolves, they shouldn't be a team fighting relegation. They've got some decent players there but they were really poor I thought. If they aren't careful, quite a few will want to move on in summer.

Overall a decent day today. I think Arsenal beating United means they are practically out of the title race. I didn't class them as real contenders but they are out of it really now I think. Arsenal are looking very, very good though and it's clear they are going to push us hard this year. They remind me of the season when Liverpool won the title in that no one expected them to win nearly every game, but they did. I think we're going to need to go on a big winning streak now and when that happens, let's see how they cope mentally - I think they'll crack myself. Friday will be a fascinating game and I fully expect Arteta to field a weakened side so as not to give Pep anything to learn from. Will Pep tinker with the team? Course :)

COME ON CITY!
What I'd say about Haaland is that he does a lot of clever stuff like at set pieces runs into places and takes the defender with him then runs into a different space before the ball comes in - a space that he's created. He's also becoming more involved in the build up and it's starting to click.

That's highlights for you - the game was all over and as so often happens in this scenario we were pacing ourselves allowing Wolves a bit more of the ball. Wolves didn't attack us for most of that game. Highlights were misleading today.

Just got home and an enjoyable day. Hard to say what’s our best at the moment but still feels like that was a long way off even though we won easily.
But we are, inch by inch, gradually stepping it up and improving. I don't think Arsenal can play any better - fair play to 'em, but if Odegard and or Partey gets injured they won't be at the same level. Odegard at 24 is still young but Partey's 29 but the media talk about him as though he's a youngster. Great player though.
