Wolves (H) Post-Match Thread

As soon as a I saw the team-sheet with Gundogan in the middle...

I'm as big of a disciple of Pep as the next Blue, but he's getting it more wrong than right of late.

For me, there is a noticeable lack of intensity from him which is transmitting to the pitch.

Am absolute waste of a substitution at half-time bringing Zinchenko on and swapping over Cancelo, who was easily our most attacking outlet during the first half.

Sterling might now be the national love-in, but he's been absolute rank from that Spurs game onwards.

He's not suited to driving in from the left.

There are no words to describe the fuck up which now means we need TWO top class centre backs in January.

One to cover Laporte and one to avoid using Otamendi ever again.

I'm not paid £20m a year but I have watched the game for longer than Pep has.

Never play Gundo in the same midfield as Rodders.

It now needs Fern back in the midfield and us going to a five.

Needs must. It is open season on that back line as it is.

Agreed but the reason for the Walker sub at HT was because he was ill (virus) it wasn't a tactical sub.

Gundogan ahead of Bernardo?
Otamendi ahead of Garcia?

Otamendi has been shit for years. Gundogan offers little to nothing forward.

I highly doubt we can come back the way we did last season. Why? Because while Liverpool will eventually drop points, so will we. We have no solution to the Laporte problem, and Otamendi will continue being Otamendi.

I always thought we were more effective with Sterling on the right and Sane on the left and playing balls in behind the defence to they could cut it back. Gave us the width to stretch the defence. Now with inverted wingers cutting in it is just floated balls into the box and it means we need the full backs to create width and then they are out of position if we lose the ball.

If everyone was fit, I'd like to see Sane Aguero and Sterling up top with KDB and Bernardo creating and Rodrigo/Fernandinho holding. Silva and Foden as creative back ups and Mahrez/Jesus as back up on the wings. We then just need a solid CB or two.

I think it’s time to blood Foden now, try him and KDB as the 8s.
From a defence perspective I’d happily try Stones (assuming he is fit ) and Garcia or THB there for the next game.

Surprised Jesus and and Bernardo didn’t start today or either foden get some game time. We just looked out of it today and our defence and sloppy passing is costing us at the moment. Let’s not lose our heads we are 8 points behind i know it’s not looking good but there’s so much football left to play.

I reckon our shots-goals ratio must perfectly mirror each other in defence and attack... we only score from 10% of our shots, whilst our opposition manage to score with 90% of their shots.

Was just so so easy for the Wolves defence today, about a hundred crosses launched into the area for our midgets to try and get on the end of and their 6ft 4 ins centre halves just laughing. We had no gameplan today, the worst I've seen us play for years even worse than Norwich, Palace and Newcastle last season. Changes for the Palace game, start all those three subs who came on today plus Foden. Players going through the motions today eight matches in, simply not good enough.

I have also watched football a lot longer than Pep but I'll take his judgment over yours or mine every day of the week

On the way back to South Wales that was the most ineffectual home performance for some time. Think there needs to be a clear out at the end of season and we need to rebuild with younger players. That midfield today was ponderous and too slow. How Gundo plays instead of Foden at home against wolves when we need creativity is inexplicable. He was his usual totally ineffective self against strong athletic players. We did not lose this in defence but the midfield was totally immobile. This midfield including is far too slow for the premier league. Felt really sorry for Sterling, as way too much to do on his own. Poor Sergio must have thought he was playing for Newport with the service he received. Lamps has shown the way with blooding the youngsters, time for us to do the same. Time to give Garcia and Foden game time. It could not have been worse than today. That being said our fans were pathetic today!! Shocking!
