Wolves (H) Post Match Thread

Do we ever see a shot perpendicular to the touchline? Does the VAR whelk shed see a view along that red line? Is that dotty line at 90degs, or is it one you've drawn in SWP? I'd like to see if anything of Laporte's body or gear was ahead of that guy's foot. From this angle, and even with those 'lines' it's no where near conclusive that Laporte's off!
The var system is fully synchronised to the pitch and rechecked before each game.

If you’re saying it’s wrong and favours defence at that end then it would favour the attack at the other end (where var gave us a goal)

This really shows up the flaws of the T Shirt guideline for handball, because Laporte's hand is obstructing the end of the T Shirt line/PL badge they use to determine where the line between arm and shoulder is.

If anything I think he's actually been a tad generous with the line placement, I think he's drawn it closer to Laporte's shoulder than he would have if you could see the whole upper arm clearly.

Anyway it's the right decision as the rules are currently. I suspect they won't be like this for long, I believe the Netherlands are trialling a margin of error that's gone over well.
Look at the picture again
The purple line for the defender is judged from the edge closest to the goal

The red line for Laporte is judged from the other side

It's only a couple of inches, but as the ladies say, it makes all the difference

is it just me but the red felt tip pen line seems to be leaning towards Laporte arm ie the line doesnt go straight up its. If the line is drawn straight up it hits his elbow !
Just you, certainly not me anyway.

It seems perspective is fucking with a lot of our fans just as it does with Liverpool fans on rawk as they’ve had 3 or 4 of these and think var is bent against them. Funnily enough, every city fan agreed with those decisions. Odd.

Sounds foolproof. We just need the same system down the touchlines that the refs have for ball over the goal line and we could do away with linos!

Hahaha - Coady's goal celebration... ...followed by the look on his face as he left the pitch = priceless!

Just wear long sleeve shirts, what happens if the sleeve has ridden up slightly or you crop the sleeve shirt to gain a few centimetres, anything this close should go way of the attacker. I don’t just say this because it’s us any team should get it, apart from the scum and dippers obviously

Nows a good time to be a maths teacher when some little shit asks ‘em “what I need to know trigonometry for?”, “well lad, you can be a VAR referee”

I have looked at the picture and know what each line is, thanks.

It definitely favours the defense. The natural position for an attacking player is to face the goal and lean in that direction. Its the opposite for a defender. So when the positions are compared if the players are more or less in line the attacker is going to be penalised. Its against the spirit of attacking football and completely daft.
