Wolves PL (A) | Post Match Discussion

We could have had 98% possession, 68 shots, and 23 on target, we'd still have only scored one.

We were shite against Newcastle and we were shite today.

You think stats matter more than goals? Blame the referee?
That's a very desperate bit of straw clinging you're doing there.
Sorry but you don't get those kind of stats by playing shite, and it's time some people on here got it into their heads that the best team doesn't always win. Always has been the case always will be because it's not an exact science and never will be.

The fact is that goals are the only 'stat' that matters. As such, the team that scores the most goals is always the better team on the day.

The record books will show Wolves as being the better team on 30/9/2023 because the score is all that matters.

The team that wins the league is the best team over the season.

We were second best today, simple as that.

I didn’t say that, I said it ‘seemed’ like… They seemed to repeatedly cause us problems on the break. We created nothing clear cut either, despite 23 attempts.
Fair comment, but that's how it is when you play an 11 man defence. I don't think it's anything like the BS that's been spouted on here, lots of terms play like that against us, most of the time we get through, occasionally we don't then it's compounded by 2 goals, one of which was a fluke, and the player shouldn't have been on the pitch for the second which also had am element of luck. Just one of those days, and with an understrength team, nothing really wrong.

can we not have palmer levels of hype for Bobb. he got pushed off the ball easily today and barely had any play of note.

today i blame whover decided to change things at half time. we were controlling it the whole first half, but after we removed one of our two midfielders the game became more even and we still failed to create chances. Nunes was doing absolutely fine not sure why you’d knock his confidence and remove and then replace him with a forward. insane

Have you asked yourself why Nunes wasn't playing his 'usual' game, like he has over the last couple of games?

Of course it's all that matters in the final reckoning, but that's completely different from being second best. We lost today but no way were we the second best team on the park.

I’d say both their goals were very lucky; and yes Huang should have had a 2nd yellow. However, this just masks the fact we were poor, too passive and disorganised. We all knew Wolves would have a defensive set up, so it’s surprising seeing Peps selection of both Kovacic & Nunes.

If we got three points today- it would have been an absolute robbery. MAYBE we deserved a draw.

Bullied all over. Thats the green print for teams against us now.

we need a backbone
You do, maybe. We were unlucky today that's all, stats prove it, just the doom machine going into overdrive again, nothing more, nothing less.

Not sure why people are quoting the stats like they are impressive in anyway tbh, tame 'shots' directly at the keeper at snails pace are classed as a shot on target, they would never equal a goal though 99% of the time.

Same with possession, there's only a few teams who can work hard enough to win the ball back so most teams surrender possession to us anyway as it gives them room to counter us, the stats always look impressive but the truth is we've been suckered in the last two matches by not actually testing the opponents goalkeeper that much.
