Wolves PL (A) | Post Match Discussion

Object of football... Score more goals than the opposition. Winning team gets three points, losers get nothing. Three points go to the better team.

All this fancy Dan 70% possession, 20+ shots stuff means bugger all if you don't outscore the opposition.

We have flattered to deceive up to now this season.
The first 25 mins v Forrest were the best football anyone could wish to see
Wolves got good fortune today second goal scored by a player who shouldn’t have been on the pitch didn’t even score the first If they go through the season with the stats like today in every game they are likely to be closer to the relegation zone They played much much better against the rags and Liverpool and lost

We have, yet we’re still top of the league.
Not played anyone if note tbh and I think we’ve a scraped a few of them as well, Arsenal will be the big test now, we could’ve been 4 points clear going into that going off todays results. We seem to have become one dimensional with Haaland to a degree, other players should be stepping up their goal contributions, if Erling is basically marked out the game or feeding on scraps because he has two on him the other would be scoring. Are we playing with inverted wingers because that to me doesn’t suit Erling, get Doku down the right to the byline and pull back or cross, get Foden on the left to do the same, give us width and create space, currently we have 6 players in the middle with 6 of theirs and then a defence to get through, trying to pass through the eye of needle.
it’s nit panic saga ions and we are top, but Arsenal and Brighton are tough tests for us now, especially with Rodri out, hopefully Bernee will,be back for a arsenal to give us some running in midfield.

Disappointing performance today. Pep didn’t seem to know what to do tactically. Odd to see him take out both his central midfielders and then throw one in who he clearly thinks is not good enough. Felt a little desperate. Don’t seem to be able to link the midfield with Haaland so we are not as effective as we should be. Alvarez is clearly talented but i genuinely have no idea what his position should be. I’m sure in time Pep will sort that out. I’m not convinced that we have the same midfield quality that we have had previously. Phillips is obviously nowhere near good enough and at the moment it difficult to assess Kovacic and Nunes. Could go either way for them but they are not at the level of those who have left. Doku will also split options too.

We will have better days and if we lose to Arsenal then it will not be the end of the world or our season.

The Stats are absolute tosh.

If you watched that game and thought we deserved anything but a defeat you don't know jack about football.
If you watched that game and thought we deserved to lose you need to get some glasses. We lost because they had 11 men behind the ball, fluked a goal and got a second with a lot of luck involved in that too, not least the fact that the scorer shouldn't have even been on the pitch.

Any ideas for another Rodri replacement in the future? I can only think of Camavinga on his level, but there's fuck all chance we'll ever prise him away from Real.
Paqueta has the strength and technique to deputise adequately, as long as he has other good midfielders around him. The problem is that we shouldn’t be thinking in terms of a like-for-like replacement, as nobody will currently stack up to Rodri. We need someone who can play alongside Rodri and then drop back after 60 minutes and play hi role without us losing control, even if that means when we are only winning by a goal.

We're notoriously slow starters but this season is different as we are very light with the horrendous injury list we have.
If we get anything at Arsenaa next week and are still top going into the international break then not one of us can complain.
Today was a blip. Eez a football.

“Now” don’t be silly. I’ve been saying it since the start. Kovacic and nunes are just not it. Can’t play without rodri, so we’re relying on him staying fit all season again.
Same position as last season but without gundogan
Kovacic not at it.....get in the bin.
He's a superb player, pure MCFC under Pep.
