Having had a similar situation arise in a EDS game a few years ago I would say she would have been sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. In my game I gave a yellow for unsporting behaviour when the keeper handled a back pass. Assessor said it should have been red as back pass was goal bound.

If you watch the highlights on the BBC, Abbie McManus the girl that scored the own goal, nearly scores a second own goal a few minutes later when she vollies a cross towards the corner of our net. Only a good save prevents it. Absolutely bizarre.

At my first game of the season and I’m impressed with the team. Jill Scott is quality and Wier and Parris took their goals well. It’s a decent atmosphere too
