A very good post. It seemed to me particularly early season last year that many of the England players were using us as a rehab centre to get fit for the Euro's. I think a rebuild of the squad was overdue and have said before that it is strange that this has been put in the hands of a very poor manager. The culture of England first, City almost last was established in the Women’s squad before Taylor. Many players have achieved a career high of winning the Euros and good luck to them in making more money abroad or enjoying retirement.
We could probably get a better coach than Taylor but that won’t turn us into title contenders alone. We’ve recruited good players but they will need to bed in as the Club try to make the shift away from having key players spending months in recovery between England tournaments. I loved the Lionesses achievement btw.
Kiera is a fantastic player but IIRC she asked to leave before Taylor was coach. The treatment of Georgia Stanway has been the bigger disappointed for me. The team should have been build around her rather than selecting Georgia as a jack of all trades.
Knowing how professional our club is run on most levels the thought has just occurred to me that perhaps someone was needed to play the bad man in all this. Maybe Taylor has unwittingly been used as the person who was charged with breaking up the established group. If things don't go well in the first few games he will be dispensed with and a proper coach given time to move these younger players forward - or is that just wishful thinking?
