Think they need to look at the standard of pitches, sure a comment was made after the utd arsenal game re the pitch
Yeah it was the Arsenal manager who made that comment but it seemed a bit of a reach to blame the pitch. Mead's ACL happened in the reverse fixture and that was played on the Emirates pitch.
Think the main areas up for discussion around the issue are:
1) Is biology e.g. menstrual cycle playing a part and to what extent? Different specialists have different thoughts on this.
2) Are expectations on how female athletes should train and the areas they focus on compared to male atheltes leaving them more vulnerable to these injuries (e.g. doing more cardio work over strength)
3) Is the growth of the game and the added strain being placed on players being mirrored by an equivalent growth in physio care/resources.
I expect the likely answer is a combo of all of those factors. I just hope we make progress soon because to lose the likes of Putellas, Mead, Miedema, Williamson, Katoto to these injuries all at once is a massive loss to the game, the players and the fans
