this is an age where foreign labour has sept up a great deal of jobs our own people would once have taken , there is little about to be had , even if you're highly skilled or qualified ....... times have changed , and there are many genuine people long term unemployed.
Careful, the lefties on here will start spouting the mythical bullshit that foreigners do the jobs Brits don't want to do.
Pisses me off though. My Romanian housemate who finished her University degree ages a go is now moaning at how long the job application is for a permanent role at her work. Part of me hopes a Brit wins that job.
I've nothing against good , and effective , foreign labour , but it was always gonna seriously reduce the number of jobs available to our own people ... and 'age discrimination' too is another problem , it's still far too plentiful in the work industry , even though it 'legally' shouldn't be ..... i know there are are many who have absolutely no intention of working , and it looks like they are about to be backed into a corner by these Tory plans .... but i know a lot of number of people personally who are forever down the jobcentre , some every single day , genuinely seeking a job , only to consistently come back home disappointed.
It seems that most employers these days haven't got the patience , good manners , time or inclination , to even acknowledge someones job application , and that's demoralising in itself.
Yup agreed about the age discrimination, it’s rife everywhere and it’s too easy for employers to get around it. All it takes is careful wording on Person Specification and relaxed interview stages allow for discrimination.
As regards to employers these days not having the patience etc, I’d say this is down to the mercenary recruitment agencies. As soon as you’ve been unsuccessful at interview these sods don’t want to know, they hardly provide constructive feedback and usually give up as they’ve lost out on their big fat commission.
