World Player of the Year must go to a Bayern Muncih Player?

Thomas Muller said the other day that the world player of the year should go to a Bayern Munich player.

"Several of our players certainly would deserve it.

"Actually, a Bayern Munich player has to be voted for the Ballon d'Or next."

I personally agree with him and think he is right. Winning the league in a record breaking season, winning the Champions League so convincingly and probably the German cup deserves recognition. Lahm, Muller, Ribery or Schweinsteiger for me would all be worthy winners. Too often the award goes to the biggest name rather than the actual best player. Messi winning in 2010 instead of Sneijder, who outperformed him in every way was an example of this. Though it was the European player of the year, Shevcenko beating out Deco or even Maniche was another example of the award just going to a big name. So does anyone agree with Muller and myself? Should the World Player of the Year be a Bayern player?

one thing that stinks is the fact that the team of the year that has just gone, not one player had appeared in a champions league final in the past 2 years up to that point

my bad, due to me being tired i've messed up, it champion league final before the team of the year was announced, but its still shocking that not one of them at all appeared in the final, i would of thought at least one player from the chelsea munich final would of appeared

Barca did win a trophy this year.

Also, show me a midfielder who beats the achievement of 60 goals and 14 assists in one season and then I might be able to judge whether or not he could win it this year.

Not including the fact Messi broke the record goals total in a calendar year as well, that won't be forgotten.

Xavi did every year. He meant you could not get the ball and Barca had at least 50% of the possession in dangerous areas in your half.

Bayern Munich players were sensible, not self absorbed and allowed themselves to be rested to win the big games when it mattered. Funny how Messi keeps scoring more and more goals, but Barcelona are becoming less and less successful.<br /><br />-- Tue May 28, 2013 5:29 am --<br /><br />

It goes to the best player, that's Messi.
