Worst journey I did was after the 2-2 with Pompey, the week before we got promoted at Blackburn.

City put a train on. There was no booze. It took about 7 hours to get back. I was sat with some right bores too.

that was one tedious journey.

This was mine. 2-0 up and didn't Bradbury get both goals for them?

Endured that train on my own, didn't get back til midnight, pulled into Piccadilly and my mate had been on the train the whole time.

So it was probably me that was boring you ;)

Stoke 5-2 was pretty bad too, left their end at half time to avoid getting battered, knowing we were already relegated to the third division. Grim...

Trying to make it back to Luton train station after a midweek cup game in 1979(I think!). Got ambushed by Luton's crew, with a load of cockney reds backing them up. There must have been about 150 squashed into an alleway about 5 feet wide!

When we finally made it to the other side, the coppers set their dogs on us. Remember approaching the station at the top of this hill, where another 100 or so Luton were waiting outside, just to give us a final goodbye slap!!

Remember thinking when the train was pulling away, 'how did I survive that'!!

If some of the players do come on this site, they will have a laugh reading some of these stories!!

Got a couple of candidates...

Sat Oct 29th 1983. Newcastle 5 City 0... Ridiculous hassle before, during and after. Had to get in the back of a police van at the station, which was already full of other Blues, and got taken to the ground in it! They were kicking the gates down after the game trying to get in and we were kept back ages before being escorted on foot all the way back to the station. I never felt more like a caged animal than on that day. Rubbish!

Wed Sept 23rd 1992. Bristol Rovers 1 City 2. (At Twerton Park, Bath!) Took fookin ages to get there during the day, after bunking off work and taking everyone down in the Company car, in convoy with other mate's also-full car. Crap little ground, terrible game, less than 8000 there and although we won, it was hardly convincing, although we were relying on Ricky Holden back then!? I got done for speeding on the M5 on the way back while racing with mate and another Blue car. I was the only one stopped! Got home eventually... Rubbish!

There have been a few great ones though...

Charlton away, it was around about Xmas time ( I am saying eighties, not exactly sure what year) on the coach, the driver went to the Valley, ......................but Charlton didn't play at the valley , they were using Selhurst Pk.
I cannot remember the year, but bloody Jim Melrose had just signed for them from us, and I am sure he scored at least a hatrick!, we got beat 5-0, we were stood on the open terrace and we had every kind of weather you could think of.
Then with it being so near Xmas the traffic back was horrendous.

Oxford away, when we were 2-0 down at 1/2 time, Paul Simpson scored for them and rubbed it in at our end, but we came out and beat em, 4-2 (I think).......................the game was great,........... but on our coach (knackered Stuarts of Oldham double decker), someone threw up just after he got on, so it was sloshing up and down the bus through those country lanes all the back to the motorway, but the driver went a different way back to Stratford and forgot it was a double decker, if it wasn't for us all screaming on the top deck to driver about the low bridge ahead, god knows what would have happened.
The driver then had to go all the way back, so more sick on mi brand new Sambas!

Palace away in the cup - we lost 4-0 after Lomas knocked himself out heading the post. Gaudinio's debut I think. Had to sit with the most annoying cockernee ever , the car's heating was broken and the driver refused to go beyond 70mph on the way home cos his tracking was fooked on is old Princess and it rattled. Fookin crap , still cant look back and laugh

fulham away

think it was the second game of the season in division 2

keegan was their manager

we got beat 4-0 i think. minibus broke down on the way home and got back at 5am lol
