Long list of places

New York or specifically Manhattan is the only place to ever take my breath away though
Sydney is stunning in many ways, watching sharks in the bay and so on
Brisbane is nice looking and clean as anything just boring
Edinburgh is just gorgeous
Lincoln has some nice history too just avoid the student car crash night life

Stoke, I had heard it wasn't good but nothing really prepares you for it
Port Vale, god forsook this place
West Brom, see Port Vale (although pretty sure its a town)
Coventry, bleak
Anywhere in the Midlands to make it easier really
Port Vale is Burslem
West Brom is Smethwick

Best:
Kuala Lumpur (Indian, Chinese, Malay food, cheap, weather),
Hamburg (born & lived there, San Pauli, Elbe),
Istanbul (love the vibe there, but I understand if it's on someones worst list)

Worst:
Bucharest (the place where the logic stops),
Brusselss (boring as hell),
Tangiers (peddlers, pushers...)

Has anyone been to Japan? im planing on doing a Far east asia tour next year. i was thinking Tokyo, Hong kong, Singapore, Thailand. am i missing a must go place please tell me.

Singapore is just to plain and too organised (a 'fine' city), and Thailand just too rough (depends on your interests as well), so having lived a number of years in that part of the world, see above who gets my vote (kind of in the middle between the two). Also, Penang, if you get a chance just voted 'foodie capital of Asia'.

Malasia really that good i heard it was a cluster fuk...
It's a great place but don't tell anyone, don't want it full of tourists! !

Many years ago, I worked in Hanley, one of the five towns of Stoke.
Although a shit-hole, Burslem made it look like Disneyland, I can honestly say it was the most depressing place I've been in this country.
Apart from Glasgow, which, with any luck, will soon be in a foreign country anyway, so it doesn't count.

This thread just makes me want to go to Cairo.

Believe us all mate,it really is a shit hole of the highest quality.
Yeah but...is it? Is it really? It can't be that bad.

I thought it was fascinating. Never seen such a teaming mass of humanity. Must admit we were only there for about 20 hours. However, the pyramids were good to see and the British Museum is awesome.

Went to Jericho on the same holiday and that was awful.
