What about Stuart Pearce's final match of his career?

We were winning the game comfortably, can't remember who against, and we got a penalty towards the end of the match. The goalkeeper approached him while he was putting the ball down and said he wasn't going to dive, just place it in the corner, and he spooned it over.

I think it would have been his 100th career goal as well!* not 100% about this though.

That was the last game at Maine Rd if i remember correctly

Its worse than that.

Boro qualified for UEFA instead of us, and got to the final. McClaren's reputation as a club manager was largely based on that near miss, and so when SGE steps down, the wally with the brolly takes over.

That useless scouse #### didn't just cost us europe, he cost the nation the European championships in 2008.

Fowler - because of what was on the line but in terms of just really awful Bradley Wright-Phillips in some obscure pre season cup somewhere in asia (japan?). kicked it about 3 or 4 times the height of the goal over the top. Very funny. Think it was a shoot out.

Fowler probably did us a favour. If we'd qualified for Europe we would've been relagated the following season. We hardly won a game after Christmas as it was.
