Ray Kelly it was. Televised game at home to Huddersfield. He was completely out of his depth. Was it Rae Ingram you're thinking of?
Can't remember if it happened to him, but around that time Lee Crooks definitely came on as sub and got brought off again. Me and my mates refer to it as being "Crooks'ed"

The name kind of rings a bell, but I can't really remember him.
On that one game wonder note though, what was the name of that centre half we bought from Southampton? Steve Wigley told Pearce he would be a future England captain, he played against Wigan and was absolutely diabolical!! Think he went on to have a fairly decent career in the Championship?
Two spring to mind.
Machin fielded Gerry Taggart at right back away at Blackburn in April 1989 - the day of Hillsborough. A slow, lead footed, all left foot centre half at right back against Scott Sellars who promptly arse raped him and we were stuffed 4-0. All 4 goals came via Taggarts side of the field.
Javi Garcia away at Wigan Dec 2012 - he lasted 50 mins and was that bad he held his hands up as he went off. Milner came on and we turned 0-0 into a 2-0 win shortly after.
Fernando against Middlesborough in the FA Cup last season gets a dishonourable mention, as does every City player in the 2013 FA Cup final.
Robinho at Spurs in 2009, I think (I am terrible with years). Think it was a midweek game. It may have been Hughes' second to last game in charge. Robinho's performance was the most pathetic I have winessed by one of our own.[/QUOTE
That was the match when Huddlestone kicked him deliberately way behind the ball after about 5 minutes. the ref had a quiet word but didn't even book him. Everything was wrong that day though from manager down.
I'm going to go with Frontzeck away at Palace (Selhurst Park anyway, so it might have been Wimbledon).
According to Wiki he went back to Ireland and then 'shockingly retired' to become an airline pilot !Ray Kelly it was. Televised game at home to Huddersfield. He was completely out of his depth.
